Awesome thread Colliwobblers! So much info, been a great read! Would you mind digging up a bit of info on Chris Yarran and Beau Waters for me please? Thanks!

Christopher Yarran (CAR) DEF $363,000

Age: 21yr 1mth    Games: 45     Born: December 19, 1990
Height: 180cm     Weight: 84kg     Position: Forward

Lat season could be considered his breakout season with a lift of 13.3 on his average, i think there is more improvement in Yarran and it won't come from raising his ceiling (last season high of 114) but from improving his consistency, while several scores in high 80"s and 90's there were also a bunch of very low scores, with the worst  21.

Premium Player Rating (DEF) 7.5/10 - I rate Yarran, I think he will lift again this season and break into the high 80's as an average, but this makes him a lower tier DEF premium, and he may need to lift that average even higher to warrant a season long position on your DEF. He will improve the question is only by how much. Risky pick, not cheap but low enough to show great savings over the other premium defenders available, also a tricky bye being on round 13.

Premium Player Rating (RUCK) 9/10 - a great 2011 season for Jacobs, high score of 141 several tons and a strong finish to the season. Jacobs needs only increase his consistency and in particular perform better against the strongest opposition rucks, like WCE who he scored poorly against on both occasions last season. With the Crows easy draw in 2012 and Jacobs proven big outputs against the weaker sides he is almost guaranteed to finish amongst the top few rucks for 2012 GET ON!

2011    22    70.7

A 2011 DT high of 128, showed us Dangermouses potential, unfortunately 4 or 5 shockers including a 28 and a 33 showed us his floor, he was for the most part consistent played all games and stayed fit, but failed to improve on last years performance.

Mid Priced Player Rating (MID/FWD) 7.5/10 - up from an original lower rating of 6.5 because we just don't know what we are going to get, I think he will lift but we mostly thought that last season as well, no great articles about him having a great pre-season, but there is a lot of news on the crows midfield shaping up nicely for the season ahead. With an easy draw, an improving ruck man and midfield as well as back line i see Dangerfield lifting his output by as much as 10 to 20 ppg, but at his price he is a risky proposition in a fwd line overflowing with mid priced picks, huge upside as he is capable of a 90+ average and is cheap, but he is also capable of another year around 70.

bit harsh on patty he's gotta have more potential then a 6.5 with all the reports ive seen :(

Cheers CW,Great write ups as always champ! I have Sandi Locked as 1st ruck and am tossing up between Jacobs and Luenberger for 2nd ruck??? and then there is the 3 rookie ruck set-up which gives me a killer FWD line..... Rucks are really doing my head in atm! after reading your write up on Jacobs it seems that you are getting on him this year, True/False?

matt1985

Thanks Colliwobblers. Was set with Waters in my def, just wanted some good info on him just to back up my thoughts! Thanks again!

I have Jacobs,Mummy (Giles,Stephenson)  at the moment and it is firming up every day, the 3 rook ruck is SO tempting but the smartest DT heads say set and forget 2 premiums 2 rooks and i'm inclined to take thier advice.

You are correct, looking at his stats for last year tho he just had a few terrible scores and that can ruin your DT/SC year.

I so concur tho and always adjust rankings on community outrage :) so i feel a 7.5 is not too high to mislead people but a 6.5 may be too low based on the obvious potential he does have so adjusting to 7.5

Thanks for the feedback.

Great to hear someone else going with the Mummy/Jacobs combo. I thought it was too good to pass up but haven't seen many locking that pair in.

Well Firstly Jacobs in round 11 bye, so that rules out cox, burger, goldy all also round 11. Which leaves mcevoy round 13, i dont think will improve, Sandi round 12, i dont trust his body, leaving mummy round 12, i think mummy is bullet proof tough and will improve further. I think that covers the gun rucks.

picker_man

good work cw 7.5 wont convince u or steer u away spot bang in the middle of make ur own mind up which is hard to do with the mid priced fwds  :)

The more I think about it the more I see Hudson getting ruck time, limited as it may be. Jacobs has a soft draw and not much competition.

I have added given the interest Sam Jacob's full games stats for 2011 season, outlining my points about his high achievement against the poor sides and his potential need for improvement over the stronger sides (talking rucks)
