Mid Priced Player Rating (FWD) 8/10 - Had a shocker in 2011 half due to injuries throughout preseason and niggles throughout the season proper, also was in the Tigers plans to try to spread the goals between more fwds. Looked brilliant in last 2 nab cup games, improving midfield and team in general, good mid priced fwd which should deliver numbers much closer to 2010 than he did in 2011.

Hardworking midfielder Danny Stanley joined the Gold Coast SUNS as a rookie following a stint at Collingwood.

Taken by the Pies with pick 21 in the 2005 AFL Draft, Stanley spent four years on Collingwood’s list. His endurance and work ethic saw him consistently feature in VFL ‘best on ground’ lists but opportunities at AFL level eluded him. He managed only five games in Collingwood’s senior side before being delisted after the 2009 season.

Stanley was invited to train with Fremantle in the 2009 preseason but the GC SUNS swooped by picking him with its fifth selection in the 2010 Rookie Draft.

Once described as ‘a bull of player’ by Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse, Stanley’s dynamism, physicality and maturity was a standout feature of the GC SUNS 2010 VFL season, one that saw him deservedly finish among the leaders at the club’s 2010 best and fairest count.

Mid Priced Player Rating (FWD) 6.5/10 - Heaps of potential and will play all games again but feel the Suns won't give him a lot of it up FWD, expect him to improve slightly on last seasons average but not a lot. Not much to read about on Stanley so a vague write up and an even less convincing rating Sorry  :-[

Saw JROO live today at Manuka.

He dominated, no doubt. But he made a lot of errors. Still Best On Ground, but makes me wonder against the tougher opposition

Premium Player Rating (MID) 8.5/10 - No News is good news, had a solid pre-season and is an elite midfielder, needs a better season than last season which should not be a problem for him. Cheap for his potential, slightly risky as he may not make the top 10 midfielders but will be a unique pick and should be close enough to the top bunch to be worth picking. As all SC coaches would be aware he would need to use the ball a lot better to be a viable pick in SC, consider for DT only.

sam shaw please - adelaide :)

Sam Shaw
#34   Adelaide Crows
Age: 20yr 11mth    Games: 0     Born: April 5, 1991
Height: 193cm     Weight: 88kg     Position: Defender
Last Drafted: Round 3, Pick #45 2009 National Draft
Last Drafted By: Adelaide Crows
Supercoach Price: $113,200
Dreamteam Price: $104,200

Shaw had a slow start to his second year at West Lakes after an interrupted summer, but worked his way into form at Glenelg in the second half of the year, impressing in the Club’s elimination final loss to South Adelaide. At 193cm and 89kg, the athletic 20-year-old has the versatility to play in a variety of positions.

David Noble: “Sam played quite a few games last year, which was good. It took him a bit of time just to get settled back playing and be prepared to cop a few physical hits and feel okay. He provided some really classy run off half-back for Glenelg and he's a terrific size. At a stretch, he could probably play key-position defence, but he could also play as a running half-back or wingman. We're really pleased re-signed with the Club because we think he's got a lot to offer us.”

Rookie Player Rating (DEF) 8/10 - Will play in the best 22 lock him in, BUT don't expect huge scores playing as a key defender he will get harder and harder roles as he comes along. Has impressed right throughout preseason and in nabcup and has cemented his spot in the starting side.

Goldsack from the pies if you can CW. They mentioned on the radio coverage today he may be playing on the wing this season.

MONEYBAGS!!!

Tyson Goldsack
#6   Collingwood Magpies
Age: 24yr 9mth    Games: 69     Born: May 22, 1987
Height: 193cm     Weight: 88kg     Position: Defender
Last Drafted: Round 4, Pick #63 2006 National Draft
Last Drafted By: Collingwood Magpies
Supercoach Price: $312,200
Dreamteam Price: $264,200

The Player - Has filled a variety of roles in his five years at Collingwood, but has played his best football as a rangy half back. Predominantly a shut down player, Goldsack has shown the ability to create when the situation allows. Capable of playing on both tall and small opponents, with his height, speed and courage making him a safe option for the match committee. Has been on the fringe of senior selection in recent years due to injury and illness and will be looking to make a senior spot his own in 2012.

2011
Was again struck by misfortune in the pre-season, diagnosed with Glandular Fever and losing 9kgs. Returned to play in the NAB Cup premiership against Essendon, but had to wait until round eight to play a home and away match.

He played 12 of the remaining 18 games, but was again the fall guy for the finals. Put the clamps on Andrew Embley in the qualifying final against West Coast, but was omitted for the preliminary final, and again an emergency for the Grand Final. Is subsequently the only premiership player on the list to never have played in a losing (or drawn) Grand Final.

2010    9    52.2
2011    12    53.4

2011 Wrap: Fringe player at the club high of 92 so can score well, a good playmaker and spoiler. inconsistant season and limited opportunities for the 3rd season in a row, needs an opportunity this season or a new club.

Mid Priced Player Rating (DEF) 7/10 - Barring injuries if Goldsack does play it will be on the wing moreso than in defence, they will certainly use him in defence if required, he wants to play on the wing and his preseason suggests he has been training to do so. He had a knee issue for the first month of nab cup and only came up for the last round. JS is the big issue, would still be considered a fringe player but has probably been promised more opportunities this season otherwise he probably wouldnt be there. Speculation only.

NAB CUP: only played the first 2 shortened games scored 24 and 21 respectively.

Rookie Player Rating (FWD) 7/10 - heaps of talent, will be a good small fwd and is relevant in fantasy land just needs to be promoted off the rookie list and put into the teams best 22, neither has happened yet and even if promoted he will not play regularly without being seriously impressive. Luke Parker
#26   Sydney Swans
Age: 19yr 4mth    Games: 13     Born: October 25, 1992

Last Drafted: Round 2, Pick #40 2010 National Draft

Parker made an impressive start to life as an AFL player, featuring in 13 games in his debut season.

The mature-bodied midfielder was being groomed as a long-term replacement for Jude Bolton, but demonstrated he was ready for senior football.

His best effort was a 26-possession, two-goal performance against Gold Coast in round 16, when he earned a first Brownlow Medal vote.

He featured in both of the Swans’ finals.

Brownlow Medal: 2011 votes 1; career votes 1.

All I can say is he is a great pick for a mid priced midfielder and should eclipse last years numbers.

Rookie Player Rating (MID) 7/10 - listed in best 22 on some sites and not even on the bench in others such as sportal, at least we get to see the GWS team before lockout round 1. This guy was taken so high in the draft for a reason, he is all class and has tons of natural talent, he is however one of the less mature bodies in the Giants line up and may struggle in the main game, may be limited to the seconds and or vested on occassion, definately needs to be developed unlike the multitude of talent the Giants have had for an extra season. Risky pick but like Coniglio, Tyson and wingard from Port, if he does get his chance he will be a gun.
