I have observed that a number of teams being posted although having a number of DPP players do not have the necessary links to move players.
One line of Thought
There is still a need for flexibility in Teams eg If Ablett was injured and was missing for a week DPP from either back or forward would allow you to move a Fyfe or a Goodard to mids to replace him providing you had adequate cover in forwards or defence.
Second Line of Thought
With ability to trade DPP in trading room DPP has lost its importance and with adequate rookie coverage on all lines there is no need.

Poll set to ascertain which option most will be using this year.
Personally I am still proposing to use becasuse I like the flexibility.

Cant really make the call until after pre season etc but if i do it, it will only be with my rookies i will not let DPP impact my decision on which prems i take and same with rookies the DPP players will need to show form then i'll be happy to connect the dots this will be my second season but taking it very seriously this year

Patrician

Definately still a need for flexibility and coverage.

I think the flexibility is gone when we lost the ability to have 3 players on the bench per line

To me, this decision really comes down to who the best rookie priced players are going to be this year, and we obviously have to wait for NAB cup for this.

I prefer to have the flexibility of having say a Zorko or Docherty / L Brown in my mids, so that I can swap my DP players from either my FWDS or DEFS when required.

However, if this "better flexibility strategy" means that there is no room on my MID bench for a couple of MID rookies that absolutely "kill it" during the preseason (and one of my selected FWD or DEF rookies is clearly either a worse scorer, or has less JS), then I think I am going to choose to leave Zorko on my FWD bench, and have L Brown on my DEF bench.

This will enable me to pick a fair few of the gun midfield rookie priced players, and there appears to be quite a few of them this year.

I agree, and then look to establish the link to the mids with rookie downgrades later

Wont be structuring my team around it, just pickthe best and use it as I can. Think it will be handy to move rookies out of a posi having the ability to pick a prem you want in 2 different posis and the flexibility of keeping a rook that you would usual need to move on to geta prem in....
ie.
Downgrade a standard back rook, move dpp rook to backs, trade in a mid prem. and so on and so on.

yeah if there is the opportunity to have a dpp rook in the mids to provide a link to the fwds or defs great if not who cares, i will be trading with them where that helps me but as far as putting dpp rooks in the mids for the sake of it i wont unless they are as good at least as all other rook options.

I may be wrong but with no byes until the 3 rounds its probably not a big deal like it was last year.

I too feel that its not the utmost importance from round 1. Having them in the mids for the sake of it. And possibly taking away from better scoring rooks. But i plan to have them in by round 10

the big question with dpp whre it matters is in the rucks and will a dpp ruck and his corrosponding player come up that is worth having because its the dpp rucks that can save us bye round donuts...

Ringo

For your information here is the Ruck DPP lists of all players with bye details

Round 11 Byes Ayce Cordy (Bulldogs), Majak Daw (Roos), Will Minson (Bulldogs) All Ruck Forward

Round 12 Byes Patrick Ryder (Essendon) R/F James Sellar  (Melbourne) R/B

Round 13 Byes: Sam Day (Gold Coast), Josh Fraser (Gold Coast) Daniel Gorringe (Gold Coast), David Hale (Hawthorne) Matthew Kruezer (Carlton); Rhys Stanely (St. Kilda) all R/F and Jackson Trengrove  (Port Adelaide) R/B

Do not see a lot of options to assist with Donuts here maybe Sellar and Trengrove.

Ziplock

didn't trengove lose his dpp?

ryder and kreuz are options as well :P

Ringo

Have not seen anything official yet.  You guys with SC Gold may be able to confirm but still listed as B/R in Fan Planner.

Looked at that as well but just wondering whether Ryder at $493k and Kreuzer at $418k Totalling $900k are worth it just to save donuts.  I am probably more interested in team balance at this point in time.

Ziplock

I think it might be- I see value in them both as midpricers :)
