i just dont see how anyone can pass on barlow this year...
Apparently he is on a modified training program through shin soreness. Haven't got a source. Read it on here somewhere.
I heard that as well. I'm a bit suss on him still but his price and scoring ability is hard to go past.

Those sort of injuries are hard to come back from, especially if you have been averaging 109 pts previously. It will be intersting to see how he pulls up from the NAB.

Not true - someone's previous average has no bearing whatsoever on how hard an injury is to come back from ... if your point was that we are buying an injured player but paying for a 109 average that would be valid - but it would also be wrong because we are not.  Chris Newman (whilst more of a SC specialist) seemed to do OK coming back from the same sort of injury.  Nathan Brown was never the same, but that was a worse break.

The point of my post was that everyone is expecting him to return to the good old days of 109pts which will be extremely hard to do considering the nature of the injury he sustained. He showed last year that he wasn't the same player when he returned and by the sound of things coming out of Freo he's still struggling.

Time will tell but those thinking that he will come back to the previous scoring might be in for a shock.

probably the wrong thread for the discussion but since its open I'll ask it

What does Barlow need to average to be a good pick? id he a keeper at that average? or is he a cashcow at that average? (trade up otion anyway).

Ziplock

100+ for a good pick. High 90s is passable though I guess.

He's not a cash cow, he's a mid pricer. That means he'll earn you cash, but at a slower rate than rookies, however still giving you an extra 30-40 ppg.

to be a cash cow at barlows price, he'd need a 110+ average, but then he'd just be a keeper.

Personally, I'm tipping a 110 average :)

then im keeping him :) and your right what a stopid question if he averages high enough to make you the $100K to be a true premium why the heck you gonna sideways trade him.....  ::)

There is a good Article today on DT Talk regarding Barlow, and one of the guys has actually looked at previous bad broken legs to see what they did over the next two years, expect Barlow to be banging out 100+ all this year!

The thing i like about Barlow is you just know he is going to improve. And he has a very high ceiling.

1. He regains full form, bang you have a 6th mid premo.

2. He doesnt quite get to his past heights, you have a massive stepping stone to a super premo. Or you keep him as very handy bench cover later in the season.

His first game back he smashed out 98 points if i remember rightly. That has got to get you excited. What happened after that can be pinned on Coach Harvey for playing the kid for the entire game. That's why he got sacked coz he could not manage his team well enough to keep them on the paddock. Apparently he is still suffering from soreness but im hoping it's only minor. He should be fit and ready to explode this year.

SAw the article on DTTalk  SydneyRox, nice write up, warmed my heart and cemented my Barlow :)

Holz

i would take barlow over rocky purely off vaue.

Sandi Mcevoy combo has the advantage of a round 11 in giles a round 12 in sandi and a round 13 in mcevoy so no donuts there.

Im personally starting with Hmac and Barlow and i would upgrade elsewhere, if not Mcevoy and Barlow is a good combo.

however as long as its someone and barlow its all good.
