How is your midfield looking this year. Also explain why you chose this formation

ronl

I'm going 4 prem. 2 rookie.  It's a strategy that has, more or less, withstood the test of time. Mid-pricers most often prove to be disappointing, that's generally why they're mid-pricers and not prems. I should add that since I'm going overall I've got to get scores on the board in a hurry.

CrowsFan

3 different formations I have been tossing up between currently. They are:

• 4 prem, 2 rookie
• 4 prem, 1 mid pricer, 1 rookie
• 3 prem, 1 mid pricer, 2 rookie

Will probably end up chickening out of using the mid pricer and just go the 4 prem 2 rookie set up like usual though...

Ringo

Always open to debate but what price range defines a mid price. eg are Barlow and Rich both priced at around $450k mid pricers or prem.  If Prem then my structure is 4/2 but if mid then 3/1/2

coconut52

Good question ringo i would probably class barlow as a mid-pricer. i would say 200k-460ishk is a midpricer

Last year i went with the 4/0/0/2 formation, which i found was successful.

This year i'll be going the same. Whilst using this format i will select three players in the 570K> range, and one in the lower 500-550 bracket.

For the 500-550 range last year i went with Matthew Boyd, which turned out super. He improved his ave from 106 to 115. Pendlebury would've been ever better rising from 110 to 129. Maybe someone like Hodge, Watson could do that this year. Or Montagna rise back up to 110>? Another is D.Cross would i am seriously looking at.

The 500-550k idea is good idea but it is risky i would maybe try that in the FWD but in the midfield pick the 4 midfielders you think are going to average the most

Faircall.

Guess it's personal preference. I'd be a lot more confident taking a 500-550 midfielder than a forward in the same price range.

E.g. going with either a Montagna/Cross type who have both averaged 110> in either 2011 or 2010...than the likes of Sylvia, Rioli or T.Cloke in the same price range, with those three averaging in the 90 zone the past two seasons.

Fair call by yourself as well   :P

If you want someone around the 550k mark david mundy is 580k i know it is a bit out of your price range but he was in beautiful SC form before he got injured

After all the discussion looks like mine at the moment is 4/1/1 as below

J. Selwood, G. Ablett jnr, M. Murphy, J. Bolton, M. Barlow, J. McDonald (D. Zorko, L. Brown ) with Zorko and Brown giving me the DPP Links.

Personally i would upgrade bolton to pendles or swan or someone like that and downgrade barlow to coniglio

Hey Ringo. Do you think Jude will be a keeper?. If not I recommend putting in a rookie in. I think the best option is to pick mids you want to keep from the start and then up grade rookie. If Jude and Barlow drop there avg a little bit you will loose cash and have to waste a trade trading them out where if you put a rookie in there you know you will get cash. I think its a bit risky going both I would pick one or the other.

Agree completely re. Bolton to Swan or Pendles (by the way, damn that would be an imposing starting midfield!), but have to disagree completely re. Barlow -> Coniglio! Barlow is an out & out superstar whose ave last year was only dinted by his struggling in his first couple of games back from a LTI & in his last couple of games of the year, as his body couldn't see out the rest of the year with zero preseason behind it! Coniglio is way overpriced, Barlow is well & truly underpriced... Easy decision there.

Complete no-brainer to pick Barlow - he's been one of my first players picked in my plan teams!

Barlow could have a good average but it was just a suggestion since i have not seen the rest of his team and he would need to get the money from somewhere
