getting swan after bye (upgrade)
not getting him at all

jimmytigs

swan will be in my team & that includes above pendles, remember only when swam was out or playing injured pendles raised his game to that level, swan judd & ablett are my locks with boyd & selwood next picks, murphy is closer to knocking judd off than pendles is to ablett, btw im talking sc here & not dt

Swan was injured and unfit because of it, for the first half of the season. He still smashed all those before him and averaged 120.
I for one don't think i could live with myself if i don't pick him round 1 and he comes out swinging 130 scores.

GAJ, Pendles and Selwood all have the ability to take that rise... I'd say each one of them have a 90% chance to be captain material season round.

agreed, i was looking from my team prospective i guess. i have gaj and selwood because i think that both will increase on last year.

pendlebury i am not so sure.

if swan is uninjured going into the season i think paying a premium price is worth it aslong as your not doing it all over your field your fine

i think you need to start swan, even though its a premo price you know what you are getting.

@jimmytigs, think I'd go Murphy now ahead of Judd.  Maybe, just maybe, Judd is starting to slow down just a tad. There was a time when he was untaggable, a bit like GAJ, but I thought last year they got to him a couple times.

Plastic Boy

We saw most of the gun midfielders tank in price over the season last year so personally I'll bring in swanny later in the year when his price dips.

It will only take 1-2 ordinary scores and he'll drop considerably and then I'll make the move.

Ablett #1 pick Mid for me this year

Chopps

even if he has a poor start (by his standards) or even just a poor three game patch like last season, he still averaged 112 for the first 10 games. if you werent already starting selwood and gaj you need to be picking a player that will save you money and gain you as many points if not more.

i havent yet been convinced in what scenario not having swan makes sense.

Captain Swan locked and Loaded. Couldn't give a flower if he drops (100k)?

Holz

You can afford not to start with swan in my opinion but you would need to have Ablett in your team to do so.

I'm not swanless in the big wide world anymore, I'm not gajless either :) so should be right for skippers.

I wanted my big 4 in swan gaj, and two of (thomo, rockliffe, selwwod) but only ended up with 1 in thomo and barlow as a consolation 4th mid. a good one i hope.

I agree with a lot of the above posts the extra cost of swan (which put me off initially) is not relevant when picking your first few top midfielders or any position for that matter, such as buddy or your first ruck, or defender.

Have Swanny, Gaj and Barlow absolutely locked.

The head scratcher for me is 2 of Pendels, Murphy, Mitchell, Rocky, Selwood.Thomo.
I  currently have Pendels and Thomo penciled in,  but the grass always looks greener....... It's doing my head in.

I can currently let go of Murphy and  Mitchell in my mind. But Selwood Thomo and Rocky keep haunting me.

These are the choices we are all making, and it will ultimately come down to the rest of your team bye structure.

easier for me i only had to pick 1, would love to have 4 premiums and barlow start in the mids, but with a dual premium ruck and solid fwd and back lines i just cant find the extra half a mil to do it.

the great dane, hes a DT god but for the first time in 2 years im considering not starting him..why?
because he isnt likely to improve his average and with emergence of rockliff (could avergage 118ish IMO), and ablett likely (IMO) to take his spot as the best DTer and these bloody byes... barlow is a must have (r.12 bye) and then theres swan... but selwood has so much value!!   and is $60,000 cheaper and will more than likely become a ultrapremo, he averaged 114.5 if you dont count his sub effected game and that suspension was unfair.. he scored a low 70 when he retuned after having a month off..averaged 117 if you dont count that game

ok maybe im a bit of a fan of him haha... am i crazy for not starting swan (obviously will get him in) ??
what are your thoughts??

Phasir

not crazy, i'm probably going to leave him as an upgrade target after the byes
pendle, ablet, rocky, barlow should be enough gun mid for me until then so i'm not "missing out on 20+ points each round therefore screwing my chances at the car"
