Dunno if this question's been asked, but I cbs looking through the pages, anyway

Didak or J. Brown?

AndrewY

Hi again. is Ryan Hargreaves worth a watch? Who would be your best pick for a backman under $230k?

Brownie. Didak could bounce back, but if it comes down to it, the pies have a plethora of talent that can cover him, however the lions are still a developing young team- they need brown at his best, and, considering he's seriously underpriced, and completely his first pre-season in a decade after an injury stricken year, I think he's got far more of a chance of bouncing back than dids.

honestly not really. He had one good DT season, when he was premium, but apart from that it looks like he's sliding, and a bit out of favour. Under 230k, from establish players, I would rate P. Davis the highest. Although, Connors would nudge him out if named round one

AndrewY

Last one...Is Sam Rowe worth a place in the team as a forward on the bench this year?  R/F may be of use?

Ziplock

I don't really think so. There aren't that many r/f worthy of consideration, and montys proposed suggestion to get around the byes using a r/f dpp link apparently only works if lycett plays round 12 and 13.

I'd prefer to go with the highest potential rookie scorer personally.

AndrewY

Thanks for all that. Sensible and useful. seasons greetings!!!!!

no problem, have a good holiday :)

Hey what are your thoughts on Tony Armstrong :)

Hey what are your thoughts on Tony Armstrong :)

I rate him. He didn't play much of last year due to a club imposed suspension, and then injury. But removing his injury affected games, he averaged over 80, and considering he's priced at 290k, looks like a bit of a steal. His JS should be pretty good- the swans are lacking in the defence department, and Armstrong is good at what he does- all accounts say that if he can manage his off the field crap, he should just slide into their team round one.

Statistically, the swans don't have a great record for turning around DT potential, but for the most part those were players more experience than armstrong, who had already hit a DT peak for them- armstrong was recruited to fill a specific role, that he already plays very well, and can score highly in.

He doesn't fit into my team at the moment, but yeah I like him :P

Would it be better to look @ buddy as a round 14 upgrade. The lad scores great but generally misses matches down in tassie and suspension. With a array of talented dual f/m in steele robinson fyfe zaha beams and some really good value buys in brown winderlich porp i dont see him as a lock in. What are your thoughts?

Do you think can Lake bounce back from a horror year? Or is he done and dusted.

And is Waters a must have?

if you think you can use the money else where, and find a forward line gem, or cover him with another premium, by all means do it. Hawtorn does have a reasonably difficult start. Personally, with all those nice mid pricer picks in the forward line, I think I'm personally just going to start buddy however- he is a beast, and he's another year older. Who knows, this could be a 110+ break out year :P It's a bit of a risk when you avoid top range players at buddy's age.

I rate Lake's chance of bouncing back at this stage at around 50%... monitor his pre-season, if he looks fit and firing, jump on.

I wouldn't say anyone is a must have. There is definitely a lot of value in Water, and it's a big upside that he has a round 11 bye as a defender, since most are out round 12 and 13. His injury concerns are worrying, but, if he fitted into my teams structure, I'd be very happy... will probably average over 80, and has a decent shot for 90.

Has Watson got what it takes to be a top 10 DT'er? Injuries last couple of years has held him back. @ under 500k would you pick him?

Ay Zip what you think about Hayes and Barlow they seem to be a popular choice in peoples teams at the moment. Barlow was a must have in 2009 and now ? and Hayes after knackering his knee is he a risky choice. What are your views on these players

09 if you had barlow you would have been in trouble, since he didn't debut until 2010 round one vsing adelaide where he pumped out (120?) points. To put it simply, I rate them both pretty highly- keep in mind Barlwo was rushed back from injury this season, had little match fitness and had sub affected scores. Even then he churned out 3 scored over 100, and 2 in the high 90s. Finishing with an average of 86. And, he's technically eligible for a 10% discount (although I'm not sure if he has it.)

look at it this way- Because of his broken leg, barlow has only managed to play 22 games in two seasons. Of which 12 were over 100. And another 4 over 90. So yeah, I rate him :P Lock him in for a 100+ 2012 average.

Hayes I also rate- yes he's old, and he had a serious injury. And the operation from the injury means he'll be more prone to hammy troubles. However, this is Lenny flowering Hayes we're talking about. He's averaged 90 or above for 8 seasons. In his 2 seasons before his injury he averaged 108. I doubt he'll get quite up there again, but he comes with a lower average, and a injury discount. Lock him in for 100 as well.

Both of those players are perfectly capable of a 110+ average if fully fit.
