Grimes is built with the same muscles as higgins, soft tissue problems, last year grimes suprised me with his string of games but it was only a matter of time. He broke a bone that is very rare though, he wont ever do that again but i still put him next to higgins and cyril in my soft tissue box.

I would swap Mundy to either Rockliff or Ablett. I prefer Ablett because he can pull out 4-6 150+ big boys where as rocky hits more 120-130.

Your tryin to save coin i can see but u need to get someone who is more valuable than rowe he is dead wood as far as im concerned. If you had the coin you could get HMAC?

Stacked forward line. Am i the only one thinking of not picking buddy because he will struggle in the first 2 rounds this year? If he scores well he will have earnt it for sure. Plays Collingwood then Geelong first 2.

without changing too much of your side, thats the changes i would make. Im not saying you shouldnt pick franklin, im saying he will drop in price.

Mumford, Hmac ( Giles, Stephenson)
Franklin, Fyfe, Zaharakis, Martin, Sidebottom, Brown, Clifton (Saad, Walsh)

Cap 49k

Grimes is again in the soft tissue box with cyril and higgins.
Mundy isnt going to be an elite premium, but he might be servicable.
As said before i think you can pick up franklin cheaper but thats just my opinion who knows what he will produce in the first 2 weeks.

I would do this to your side.. but thats just mi y opinion

Goddard, Shaw, Deledio, Waters, SCOTLAND, Clarke, Docherty ( Sierakowski, Brown)
Ablett, SWAN, Barlow, Hayes, Wingard, Shiel (Mitchell, Kavanagh)
Mumford, Hmac ( Giles, Stephenson)
Fyfe, Zaharakis, Martin, Sidebottom, Brown, Clifton, PANOS (Saad, Walsh)

Downgrade 1 premium in your forward line to a rookie to free up coin, Panos isnt a bad option or maybe a GWS rook. Id personally wait a month on franklin because i see improvement in all the other forwards you have picked.

Phasir

cheers for the review mate
I thought about Scottland at first but had both Gibbs and Murphy in the team so it was too many blues

Also would like to keep Mundy over Barlow, my reasoning is that Barlow will get the bigger tag, he's coming back from a -lets face it- shower season because of that break he had in 2010.  Mundy was also scoring at the same rate as Barlow last year before Mundy had his injury run.. & with the Pav moving back down forward Mundy will be more in the guts of it.

Only moved Rowe in this arvo because I wanted to see how this new "cheap ruck" strategy could help the team.. wouldn't be relying on him to play more than 5-6 matches this season with Giles/Stephenson playing as my 2nd/3rd rucks with whichever player going the best as my 2nd to Mummy.

May well drop Buddy now that you've put it like that.. he does chew up a lot of the cap without much benefit...
might be able to upgrade Barlow & Grimes with the cash if there's another rookie who'll be getting lots of game time
(I don't actually know much about Panos so I'm not totally sure why you thought he'd be the best one)

I can see your concerns about grimes but at 320k dont think its worth it considering he was averaging about 88 before his injury and as you said his injruy was not a soft tissue one. Chappy was in a imular postion but he has proved he is a valuable picks. With melbourne improving he could be set for a 90+ average, if he can string even 10 games together he could rise 100k or more and if he does go down you can straight swap to any premium.

gone a very mid-priced team this year as there are so many improvers around.
by round 1, will have around 50-100k in the bank, gives me a bit of room to move between now and round 1 lockout
ruck and mid benches are pretty much set, back and fwd will be open to change

i want to see how much better your analysis is than R.Griffen ;)

Told myself I wouldn't post a team this year, but I figured I put no real planning into this team and it'll change ~3,248 times between now and round 1. (That number, unfortunately, is not an exaggeration.)

I have done zero research on rookies, disregarded byes and not put much effort into this team

Let me know what you think and if any rookies I have there are absolute rubbish let me know. From what little attention I paid, they all appear pretty solid.

I hope you like it Mr. Gun.

Only worries i have is Hanley and I also think Shiels is over priced for his output.
Shiels will be a Premum and average 100 but i can't see him averaging more than the super premiums in Ablett, Swan, Pendles, Selwood, (Rockliff, Redden and Murphy are close too). So if you want a mid who is unique but averages 5-10 less then everyone elses mids then thats what you will get, cos he isnt a cow or a super premo.

Hanley is your roughy tho so thats alright aswell, just be prepared that both of those guys might not be scoring as much as other guys premiums.
