Gorringe for a sneaky. Wouldn't be fielding him, but if you're fielding giles, you'll need a 4th ruckman behind orren- and I think Gorriinge fits the bill. Fraser is getting on in years, suffered injuries last season and probably will again this season. They need someone to support Smith in the ruck, even if Fraser if fully fit they need to develop another ruck with Smith anyway. If you remove Gorringe's injury/ subbed games he averaged 50. I expect he would have played 10+ last year without injury, so you could expect 15ish this year at a good 60 avg or so- considering monty hasn't factored in the 10% discount he should be getting, worth looking at :P

No Zip, please dont go this way. Gorringe stank it up last year big time. Didnt play well and i had him as my 4th ruck, thankfully i didnt have to play him

now better options for 4th ruck (if you were going 4 rook strat) have kind of revealed themselves.

I still think gorrigne has a bit to show this season though :P

Hmmmm..... Back to the two guns two rooks. Guess I am no longer welcome in this thread... Unless Giles averages 70+ then I'll look to start him.

This is the area i really can't decide on at the moment which way i'll go - there's pros and cons any way you go.

Tom Derickx is one i'm surprised people haven't jumped on also. i can really see him being a surprise packet and possibly being the #1 ruck...despite Maric! i'm just not sold on Maric's ability. Certainly he will be given every opportunity to prove himself but Derickx looks more of a likely type for me.
Have thought long and hard about Ayce also and agree with you.
I can see Jarrad Redden also getting a few games.

The pre-season form af so many will ultimately decide on which way i go (more so than other positions) i think....
Agree with your other summations  :)
+1 Derickx should be on the radar.

I'll keep fanfooty updated with what happens with him.

Gorringe was a star in the SANFL, great skills when the balls on the ground

Ziplock

he's just a little bit over priced...

Ideal in a ruckman, elite skills when the ball is on the ground..

Ziplock

yeah, it's impressive... one of the downfalls to most tall players are really low down skills.

Derrickx and Roughead needs to come into consideration but I just don't have the space for them right now.  I am happy with McIntosh at the moment but I will wait until the full games are played before making my decision.

Derrickx is defintely a possibility. I need to know more about his chances of playing regularly. I mean why make him your forth ruck when the big O and giles will be playing week in week out. Anyway what I really want to hear is someones opinion on KREUZER. Who thinks he can get back to some good form? will he predominately be playing in the ruck or? I hear he's had a really good pre season. His current price is very nice meaning I'm seriously considering him. Anyone wanna share their views?

bomberboy0618

Shh about Derrickx please :P
Kreuzer will do well but I dont think he is worth it over Orren, Giles and a third rookie ruck.

nick1408

Agreed Bomberboy.  I don't think Derrickx is a lock as Maric and Vickery will play ruck and ruck/forward most weeks.  Richmond's gameplan is to have three talls (Vickery, Riewoldt and Miller) so if one of them go down that is when Derrickx will come in.

There was huge wraps on Derricx last year until he got injured but point taken.
It's out of him and Redden for 4th ruck for me. Giles is a freak. He should be the Smith of 2011 and then some. Thanks do the info nick, great work!

He will be easily better than smith of 2011. He will 75-80 minimum.

Ok, so I have been pretty quiet here this year.  Reason; I have no confidence in my team's performance.  Anyway, I have stuck with Bargain Ruck and ended up with the following team:

Warrenbayne
Remaining Cap: $38,800

DEF: B Deledio, G Broughton, J Grimes, M Golby, B Lake, M Clarke, B Ellis, K Hunt, A Tomlinson

MID: D Swan, S Pendlebury, M Boyd, D Martin, B Vince, J McCarthy, D Shiel, J Magner

RUCK: H McIntosh, J Giles, J Redden, O Stephenson

FWD: P Chapman, M Robinson, J Lewis, S Sidebottom, P Dangerfield, D Hale, D Smith, B Smedts, T Dickson

I had Orren out and Longer in so that change may still happen which will mean Hunt goes out for Baumann as well.  It was a bit of a tossup between Hunt and Baumann but midfield time won out for me.
