Our picks were

Broc McCauley-Former young Brisbane ruck who showed good signings before being delisted

Amos Frank-Lighting quick aboriginal midfielder who apparently has a great kick on both feet

Andrew Boseley-Tall defender at roughy 194cm and showed good signs for the geelgon falcons this year who people thought would of gone in the national draft.Needs to bulk up though

Adam PattisonFormer St kilda and Richmond ruckmen no clue y we got him and not happy about it.Though on the hawks facebook page states he is now mainly a forward.Still dont need another ruck or tall forward

Played well at Box Hill this year.

It is a rookie pick so it is mainly for speculatives and potential patches. Given our recent history with Ruck injuries and losing two ruckman at the end of the season I would have thought it made a lot of sense.

If Boseley gets a senior list spot i would seriously consider him

but for that to happen:

At the start of a season, a club can nominate up to two veterans from its senior list for salary cap reasons; if a team does not have a full quota of veterans, it can make up the balance by nominating rookies to be eligible for senior selection. These players are known as nominated rookies.

If a senior-listed player is moved onto the long-term injury list, a rookie-listed player can be temporarily elevated in his place, becoming eligible for senior selection, while the senior player remains injured.

Have to be the latter, I think we have two veteran spots filled.

Actually forgot the 10 year rule, only Bateman qualifies.

Will be spot for one rookie.

You don't have to nominate the rookie round 1 though do you so you can wait till we have a need.

Cicjose

hodge and mitchell don't qualify under the 10 year rule?

if a player has played with the one club over 10 years they can be elevated into veteran status

Whereas the current veteran's rule favours clubs that have two highly-paid players who are 30 or older - such as Fremantle with Matthew Pavlich (30 in December) and Aaron Sandilands - the revised rule will advantage clubs that have several well-paid players with 10 years or more of service.

My understanding is that you have to have been at the club for 10 years (not including rookie list) and be over 30.

That will change in 2013 though.

Because we drafted McCauley, does that mean Lowden and Grimley aren't developing enough or just taking their time?

My guess would be taking time?
But lowden has had a few injury worries

hawk_88

Lowden is developing well despite some minor injuies, probably 3rd ruck after Bailey and Hale. Grimley is a bit behind where you would expect him to be. Rucks often take a long time to develop and they are both only 20.

I think it is more likely that we recruited McCauley and Pattison because we traded Renouf and Johnson retired.

I still like the pick though. We have really addressed our weaknesses in these drafts this year.
