marsh making runs in the 20/20 probably has done enough to prove his fitness,  pretty likely the team will be...
warner
cowan
marsh
ponting
clarke
hussey
haddin
siddle
pattinson
hilfenhaus
lyon

what will be interesting if the top 3 score well, and watson is fit for the sydney test,  both huss and punter could be batting for their career.
a team of-
warner
cowan
marsh
khawaja
clarke
watson
haddin
cummins
siddle
pattinson
lyon
could be the team for the first west indies test (a long way off i know, but still)

that top 4 is so inexpirned bit of a concern..we rely need huss or ponting to make a century nxt test
yeah pretty inexperienced at test level true, but they are not young. marsh, warner, cowan all over what 26-27?
also if they get 4 hard tests vs india under their belt that will certainly go along way to getting pressure test match experience.
the thing is that the team need to be set up for the ashes, and will hussey or ponting be apart of that squad? not sure on ages , but they would have to be around 39 by then.
anyhow im so keen for this series,,,,bring on monday....

I think Christian will play. Either Cowan or Marsh will miss out.

Personally i can't see why Cowan is even there, he's had 2 good innings against a half-strength Indian side that weren't even trying. I'd have Klinger ahead of him by a long way, but Klinger plays for SA and Cowan plays for NSW, so there's why Cowan is where he is.

Cowan's latest Australian A/First Class innings:

4, 134* - South Australia
145 - NZ
65, 145* - NSW
109 - India

He's averaging 150.5 in his last 4 FirstClass/AusA matches.... Don't; see how he can not be included in the squad...

upthemaidens

i doubt they brought cowan into the squad if they wer'nt gunna play him, he surely gets a spot in the top 6 before christian.
that also goes for hilfenhaus, they didnt add him not to play. its also a good selection to add some much needed experience into the bowling ranks, he's also a good workhorse so they wont have to over bowl pattinson.
starc didnt do enough on a bowlers wicket in tassie to deserve a spot

PowerBug

Oops. :-[ Well why is he in the tour squad?? I thought onbly New South Welshmen were allowed to play for Australia. ???

Christian is still a South Australian so that affects his chances of playing.
