The fall of Australian cricket started a long time ago and until you can accept it then you shouldnt be making ridiculous claims

January 2009: Australia fall 2-1 to South Africa, dropping their first Test series on home soil since a defeat by the West Indies 16 years before. Led by Dale Steyn, the Proteas wrap it up at the MCG despite Ricky Ponting making 101 and 99. Another of the golden generation, Matthew Hayden, plays his final Test in the dead rubber in Sydney.

July-August 2009: First-innings batting collapses on both sides of London seal the fate of Ricky Ponting's side in the Ashes. At Lord's Australia lose 6-139 to be rolled for 215, with England going on to win the second Test by 115 runs. Then, in the fifth Test at the Oval, Australia's middle order crumbles again. After an enterprising start by Shane Watson and Simon Katch they are out for 160. England win the series 2-1

January 2011: A sorry summer is completed at the SCG when England put the finishing touches on a 3-1 Ashes triumph in the fifth Test. In a historic low point, Ponting's team falls to a record three innings defeats during the series. The forgettable campaign ultimately brings about the end of his captaincy and prompts an independent review, and as a result reconstruction, of the Australian team structure.

March 2011: Australia's dominance of the one-day international game is also undermined when they lose their first World Cup game in 12 years. Pakistan?s four-wicket win in Colombo comes despite a brilliant bowling performance from Brett Lee and gives them top spot in group A. Ponting stars in the quarter-final against India with a century but they fail to make the semi-finals.

November 2011: Nathan Lyon, with 14, and Peter Siddle (12 not out) top score for Australia, who incredibly fall to 9-21 before being bowled out for 47 in the second innings of the first Test against South Africa in Cape Town. The hosts had earlier been bundled out for 96 but Michael Clarke's team pay for their astonishing capitulation as Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla make hundreds to lift the Proteas to victory.

how quickly you forget about how poor we have become
all of that is copy and paste.... lolza

so? they are very valid points to Australia's downfall despite your denial

Master Q

Well at least we have made some progress... No matter whether they deserve it or not Punter, ClRke and Hussey will most likely play in Boxing Day...

Cicjose

progress?????

by playing out a level series against poor opposition?

My Chumps

Haddin is a disgusting player, with no sense of how to play in a situation: 'I'll just lob one to mid-on now'. Out for Wade.
Hughes must go, surely we all agree on this by now? Watson back if avaliable, if not Cowan.
Khawaja has to go aswell. I'm a big fan of the bloke, but he's averaging 29 in test cricket. Just not up to it yet. I would like to see Callum Ferguson in, but two debutants running out on Boxing Day is somewhat suicidal.

If Harris isn't avaliable, and we have to play that retard Starc again, then I cannot see us bowling India out for a small score. The whole series I reckon we will struggle with the ball in hand....

I'd be tipping a 3-1 win to India in the series, but would be more than happy to be wrong...

Why is everybody all over Haddin now? He's probably the second best keeper in the world atm (behind Matty Prior), and his batting isn't too bad either. Shouldn't be kicked, Paine and Wade got nothing on him.

India to win the first test then draw the next two after batting for far too long like always, then Australia take the last test after a bowling masterclass by Pattison and Cummins.

Not going to the Perth Test, $19 for an under 15's ticket is just far too much for me.

You have to be joking.
He is the worst batter in our team right now.
And Matty Prior?
Seriously?

Paine's glovework is a LOT better than Haddin's.

As is Wade's in my opinion... not to mention the batting...  :-X

Matty is by far the best in the world, batting and keeping.
Yeah I'm English so what

My Chumps

Hahaha, yeah okay.
He's not bad.
If Sangakkara still wore the gloves for Sri Lanka...

Batting AND Keeping-wise, he isn't the second best keeper and neither is Prior. Dhoni and Sangakarra will fight out the title for number 1 and 2. Even though Sangakarra doesn't keep in Tests anymore, he's still a good keeper and a great batsman. Dhoni is an explosive player (even more than Haddin in my humble opinion) and has drastically improved his keeping.

Jukes

Test cricket is the only real cricket, ODI and T20 are just for entertainment not proper cricket.

Prior is far better then Dhoni. Prior has an average of 45 (8 more then Dhoni), 6 centuries, 2 more then Dhoni, and averages 3.06 catches per match, 0.2 more then Dhoni. And he plays for the best team in the world in England! Which has a fair bit of competition for the keeping spot as there are 5 keepers in England's squad (India has 3), including Craig Kieswetter and Steven Davies who are both impressive.
