Laxman should be dropped for Sharma. From all reports the Adelaide pitch is a batter's paradise.

I like the way one of the commentators said that it would be an injustice to give Laxman another chance to prolong his career by allowing him to play on a ripper pitch. He might well make a ton, but surely they should give the youngsters full opportunity to make it at test level and to get some confidence.

Agree Windigo. When you've lost 3-0 - and been thrashed - you may as well give the youngsters a taste

TheMailman

The best thing India can do is come out all guns blazing and try and catch Australia offguard

I actually want them to be competitive this match

No surprises there.

33, 30, 39, 38, 37/36. Can't remember VVS's age.
That is an old top 5, and change is a good option as they have lost the top spot.

If laxman plays its a joke he needs to go..and this will be Dravids last test he is 39!..five tendulkar anoth 6 or so months

Be kind of good if Tendulkar falls short of 100 centuries.

His 99 International Centuries, could be like Bradman's 99.94 average...

India will let him play until he's 50 just to get that 100th century. Then he'll be gone.

Confidence. They may not have Dravid, Tendulkar, Sehwag or Laxman. Will be a very different looking India....

Is Paine still injured? Haven't heard anything about him.

But it's about time the selectors got ruthless and starting blooding some youth in the next test series. This is the first XI I reckon they should play in the Windies.

Warner
Cowan
Khawaja (should be given another chance since Marsh has failed this series)
? (Who would replace Ponting at 4 when he retires?)
Clarke
Watson
Wade
Siddle
Pattinson (I assume he and Cummins will be fit by then)
Hilfy
Cummins

Pain is still injured, in fact my inside word is that a few of the senior figures are getting worried about the long term nature of this finger injury. He is the chosen one, I think they are reluctant to try someone else for fear of them being undroppable. I agree they should go with Wade and see how he goes.

No Spinner?? Would you say Lyon still goes on tour with them??

And Windigo, that was terrible :P

TheMailman

Personally I think they have blooded enough youth and now it is about consolidated the same side to get team chemistry up. Players like Marsh Ponting Cowan Hadding can find extra confidence on the tour with chances to perform well.

Otherwise they can ship their ass' back where they came from

I knew I was forgetting someone. :P

Hmm, that produces a major dilemma. Who do you drop to make way for Lyon?

Hilfy has no doubt been the best Aussie bowler this series. Siddle has been our most consistent bowler for quite a while and is seen is the senior bowling mentor to the young kids in Pattinson and Cummins. Pattinson has had an amazing start to his career and the same can be said for Cummins.

I'm thinking Pattinson will get the nod, but to avoid more foot injuries, they'll rotate him and Cummins around.
