Humour Me:

TEAM NAME: 4 Rookie Rucks
DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, G. Broughton, J. Grimes, B. Lake, M. Clarke, B. Ellis (B. Smedts, B. Wilkes)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, M. Boyd, J. Watson, B. Gibbs, M. Barlow, D. Shiel (E. Kavanagh, T. Mitchell)
RUC: B. Longer, J. Giles (S. Rowe, O. Stephenson)
FWD: L. Franklin, S. Johnson, M. Pavlich, D. Martin, J. Brown, A. Christensen, D. Zorko (A. Treloar, T. Walsh)
CASH LEFT: $45,000

Just thinking, that a rookie ruckman will make as much as a rookie anywhere else on the ground. This is assuming they're the #1 or a very main ruckman for their team.
If I wanted 1 main ruckman (say HMac, ZSmith or Trent West), I'd downgrade Christensen to a rookie FWD.

Thoughts???

Funnily enough, if you switch longer with jenkins (crows' only other genuine ruck) that's a really good team.

Logically- if you downgrade 2 players (on field rucks), you must upgrade 2 others, so they largely negate eachother.

But the only problem is- will all 4 rucks play at least 10-15 games each, allowing you to upgrade to prems?

Pretty ballsy if you start the season like that, but it could pay off with the extra cash spent on other positions.

Personally I prefer my strategy of goin one prem ruck and 3 rooks as it's not as risky yet still gives u plenty of extra to splash over the rest of the field. I've made a few teams with this strategy and it's seems much stronger on paper by a mile.

Ringo

Much the same as Miffy bit gutsy to go with 4 rookies,  At the moment i am working through whether to go with 1 Prem and 3 rookies or a mid priced ruck eg West and 3 rookies.
IMO as has been stated you have a huge risk in that you need all four to be playing. As a Brisbane supporter do not see Longer getting games early in the season if at all. Remember Longer is still only 18 so will have some developing to do.  Better options may be Tom Derickx, Adam Pattinson or Jared Reddan if you are set on the 4 rookie structure.
If going with the structure you will need to observe NAB Cup and team namings and then select 4 who you think will get the majority of games at clubs. Do not factor byes in as I you will have probably upgraded one or two by Round 11.

@ ringo
The good thing with getting west, with the strategy your considering of 1 mid 3 rooks, is that if he isn't first ruck at Geelong than itl b one of ur other players in Stephenson. So either way u will end up with geelongs #1 ruck. Sorta eliminates a lot of the risk involved. I like it

Hippo

I Like it!  :D

Over the yrs with last yr being the exception i have found that the 4th ruck spot is a place holder and nothing else.

Without going into detail you will find that your other rookies if picked correct will rise in value and be traded for another up and comer, you dont really need to trade out the 4th ruck spot as all other rookies in other spots will use your trades over the yr.

YOu can afford to hold a dead weight rookie in one spot, how long did Impromtu have Hunt for!!!!?

The only useful thing would be the bye rd but if you plan ahead and so on you will be able to get around it... lets face it everyone is going to cop a 0 in those rds somewhere or another

Hippo

but obv you want your other 3 rucks playing just about every week

Sundown24

Agree with everyone's thoughts. I think 4 Rookies is a bit adventurous, especially when your 4th ruckman probably won't ever play. Its just an issue if your 1 Prem has the same bye as your next best ruckmen. But by then, you'll hopefully have upgraded one.

This would probably be my team, if I went 1 Prem and 3 Rooks.

DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, G. Broughton, J. Grimes, B. Lake, M. Clarke, B. Ellis (B. Smedts, B. Wilkes)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, M. Boyd, J. Watson, B. Gibbs, K. Horsely, D. Shiel (E. Kavanagh, T. Mitchell)
RUC: S. Mumford, J. Giles (O. Stephenson, S. Rowe)
FWD: L. Franklin, S. Johnson, M. Pavlich, D. Martin, J. Brown, J. Porplyzia, D. Zorko (A. Treloar, T. Walsh)
CASH LEFT: $48,400

Barlow down to Horsely, Christensen down to Porplyzia, Longer up to Mumford

charliesheen

I like this team better.

You could also consider merging Porplyzia with one of your backs to get another premium or semi premium forward.

just throwing ideas out there.

miffysp

C how much better ur team looks now. I'm very happy with where mine is at. It's somewhat similar to this. Did u want me to post it on here?
U could maybe go porplyzia to christeson

Sundown24

That would be great, still trying to get my head around it!

Christensen I've read a couple of times, dominated when he played full games. With retirements and rotations, he's surely due for more full games

Cheers

miffysp

Yeah he sure is. Same goes with bruest. His average suffered due to the sub vest

So far my team is at this stage.

DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, H. Shaw, D. Heppell, N. Grima, M. Clarke, T. Mohr (B. Smedts, N. Blee)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, D. Swan, B. Gibbs, M. Barlow, S. Coniglio, C. Wingard (K. Horsely, D. Shiel)
RUC: S. Mumford, J. Giles (S. Rowe, O. Stephenson)

Sundown24

Pretty good team Miffy, cheers!

I've settled with this team now for the past week or two.

DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, G. Broughton, S. Burgoyne, J. Grimes, B. Lake, B. Ellis (B. Smedts, B. Wilkes)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, M. Boyd, M. Pavlich, B. Gibbs, K. Horsely, D. Shiel (E. Kavanagh, T. Mitchell)
RUC: M. Leuenberger, J. Giles (S. Rowe, O. Stephenson)
FWD: L. Franklin, S. Johnson, D. Martin, C. Sylvia, J. Brown, A. Treloar, T. Walsh (D. Zorko, H. Crozier)
CASH LEFT: $17,100

My only toss-up is dropping Lake to a Rookie (he could be injured) and upgrade Horsely, hopefully to Barlow/Hayes with some fiddling around.
Thoughts?

Hippo

Sylvia is suspended for the first 2-3 games, so why not swap Pav for him and throw in Barlow?Hayes in replace for Pav

imo every needs to have McDonald and Clarke

miffysp

I agree with hippo. It's a waste to have 521k in sylvia sitting on ur pine for a few weeks
