TEAM NAME: Galea
DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, B. Gibbs, N. Grima, B. Lake, P. Davis, B. Stratton (T. Mohr, S. Morris)
MID: D. Swan, M. Murphy, J. Selwood, M. Barlow, S. Coniglio, M. Clarke (S. Clifton, D. Shiel)
RUC: H. McIntosh, I. Maric (J. Giles, O. Stephenson)
FWD: L. Franklin, N. Fyfe, T. Cloke, M. Clark, J. Brown, A. Didak, J. Patton (A. Morabito, J. Porplyzia)
CASH LEFT: $48,300

Hey guys what do you think? My strategy is to go cheap on my rucks because i think that both Mcintosh and Maric will score well until I decide which of (Sandi, Cox, Mumford, Leunberger, and Goldstein) will be the premium ruckman for the season. There is injury clouds over cox and sandi and I want to wait to see how Mumford and Leunberger go. There price cant go up by much more, lol. Any tips?

to early to really narrow down particular players, but still good to try out different structures and so on.
looks like a pretty good team. i would say though that if u want m.clark u should have him in ruck and not in forwards.
also i know fanplanner have porplyzia at rookie price, but i just doubt he will be under 200k(i could/hope im wrong)  so you really need more cash left over.

I still think you need a prem Ruck though.  Looking at other threads it appears Hmac and Goldstein are sharing rucks so may take points of each other.

Lake is finished.

Why?

30 years old, coming off 3 large surgeries. In the rehab group so not training properly. Coming off his 2011 season where he had no fitness or form. His fitness base would be worse than the recent draftees. If you think he'll be able to just sit in the goalsquare and work his way into it you will be in for a rude awakening.

Say that in the first place instead of just "Lake is finished".  It helps people make assessments of the player

Quote"His improvement in his running gait is remarkable," Montgomery said.
"There was a massive limp there last year.

Of course the coaches are going to talk him up. Every club does it this time of year to boost memberships.

Can't remain a premium for ever.  AFL players don't have a long shelf life.  If he gets a discount, I think he is probably worth the risk assuming he gets a good preseason.  I don't know how these discounts work next year though.

Some players are also more professional and can manage coming back from lay off & injuries better than others.  I don't know if Lake falls into that category.

I think you're right on this one - same with marty clarke.

Krakouer hadn't played a single game for 4 or 5 years and was still 200k+

I bloody hope we're wrong

Ziplock

krakouer hadn't played since 07, but, his last averaged was significantly higher than porps.

Yer I put lake in on the back of his 09 season. I had him all year and he was the biggest weapon for me. We will see but he is subject to change. I could swap him to beau wilkes to free up some cash for porpz and clarke if they rise.

What does everyone think of Barlow, J.Brown and Didak? Can they retain their prime status?

My comment for what it is worth
Brown will remain as Brisbanes focal point - Strong Mark which scores points in SC. Dio not see him changing his appraoch of attacking the ball at all costs which may result in further injuries.
Barlow - Shows some promising signs since return - With the emergence of Mundy this year will they take points of each other.
Didak - Not a Didak fan been burnt badly,  Was given plenty of opportunities this year which he did not accept this year.  Know had injuries but can not see him recapturing previous years form but maybe wrong.

King Lion will be good, but not anywhere near as good as his prime. I think he's capable of about 90ish, which still makes him worth it. All depends on how many games he'll play. Think of him like Higgins. Good when he's in, but will he be in enough?

Taking points off eachother is a myth. It makes players better to have good players around them. Total points rankings:

2011 - Pendlebury #1, Swan #4. Murphy #6, Judd #7. Cox #2, Priddis #5
2010 - Swan #1, Pendlebury #5. Ablett #3, Selwood #8, Chapman #9. Goddard #2, Montagna #4, Hayes #7, Dal Santo #10
2009 - Ablett #1, Selwood #8, Bartell #9. Montagna #3, Goddard #4, Riewoldt #5, Dal Santo #6, Hayes #7.

So when you look at it like that, the best way to decide which premiums to take should be based on who you expect to be the best positioned team on the ladder. If there was no bye, taking all of Swan, Pendlebury and Thomas would be a good move.

Didak would just be a guess. If Bucks plays him as a high half forward where he belongs, he'll be gold. You need to be super fit and durable to be able to play this position well though. ROK and Brad Johnson are the best examples. If Didak just sits in the forward pocket I wouldn't touch him.

Stupid footywire has included finals so the season rankings are not 100% accurate. They wouldn't be that different though, and my point is still valid.
