About the Foundation

In May 2008 our son Cody Anakin Porteous was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. After major heart surgery and months in hospital we took him home for his short and painful life. Cody sadly passed away two days before Christmas 2010.

After travelling this journey with Cody we have decided that we would like to be able offer some financial funeral assistance to parents of children who suffered from a Congenital Heart Defect.

Funerals are an enormous expense at a very difficult time, with many heart kids dying suddenly or even within weeks of their birth. Parents are often preparing for the arrival of a new child and then days later organising a funeral, or in our case are unable to work for two years and then expected to be able to pay for a funeral and all other expenses associated with caring for a heart kid.

We believe that assisting families in need will help to take a little piece of the financial burden off of them.
Facts about Childhood Heart Defects:

More than 4 young Australians will die this week as a result of Congenital Heart Defects.

Congrats on this Marcz and a deserving cause.  Can you advise where we can purchase the calendar and contribute to this worthy call.

All the best for this Christmas as no doubt it will bring painfull memories.

Thanks for the link Marcz will definitely visit the shop for some calenders and i think i'll support the cycling team by purchasing
a shirt although lycra doesn't flatter me, but your family's story tugs at the heart strings and i would love to own something that carries Cody's name and his memory. It's a wonderful thing that you and your wife are doing. We are so sorry for your loss as there is no greater loss than that of a child. I sincerely hope Xmas 2011 brings with it some joy and happiness for you and your family and not to much sadness. God bless you all and Karen and i will think of you guys often over the Xmas break.
