Thought I would have a go at listing out our best 22 for this year

B Merrett, Drummond, Patful
HB Adcock, Hanley, Lisle
C Rich, Redden, Rockliff
HF Sheldon, McGrath, Banfield
F Brown, Karnezis, Cornelius
R Leuenberger, Black, Zorko

Bench Hudson, Stiller, Polkinghorne
Sub Docherty

Unlucky Players Bewick, Polec, Lester, Hawksley and Retzlaff who may vie for bench/sub positions
Top eight here we come with this team.

If Polec is fully fit then he is very stiff to miss out i would probably put Polky into that half forward line and take sheldon out of the team put Polec on the bench but i reckon its about right otherwise

Cicjose

i didnt think Karnezis was in the lions best 22?

MTTY

A lot of quality young players around the Lions.. Here's my best 22 for the Lions

B - Drummond, Merrett, Lisle

HB - Hanley, Patfull , Docherty

C -  Zorko, Adcock, Rockliff

HF - Banfield, Brown, McGrath

F - Hudson, Corneilius, Karnezis

R - Leuenberger, Black, Redden

I - Lester, Polec, Rich

Sub - Sheldon

#4
Do not see Lisle as Full back.  See him slotting straight in to Stakers position at HB
Adcock at Centre is interesting but I think we need his drive from HB.
Can live with Lester and Polec for Stiller and Polkinghorne,
Do not know if we need to start both  Berger and Hudson on the ground and that is why I left Hudson on the bench.

Cic based on last years form Karnezis will take Clark's position up front. Remains to be seen if he suffers second year blues but his SC scores are greater than Clarke's first season scores and this comment from the Lions summarising their 11 debutants:
But it was Oakleigh Chargers product Patrick Karnezis who made the biggest impact of the newcomers, playing 11 straight games from his Round 13 debut and booting 17 goals at an average of 1.54 goals per game - a figure that was bettered only at the Lions by regular spearhead Jonathan Brown (2.2 goals per game) and Mitch Clark (1.59 goals per game).
Such was Karnezis’ consistency, he kicked multiple goals in seven of his 11 games and was held goalless just once - against Collingwood in Round 22 at the MCG.
It therefore came as no surprise when Karnezis was awarded the Lions’ Rookie of the Year Award at the Club Champion dinner in September.

No reason to not put in best 22

Cicjose

i do like the look of Karnezis very good awareness and great marking ability

Lost all respect when you put Drummond on as the sub and Black on the bench?

Ringo

Agree Nails Black must start and Drummond a must in our best 22.

Nails do you think CHF will be McGrath position this year taking over Powers Role?

Looking forward to seeing Karnezis this year - According to reports has added 4/5kg to his frame.

My Opinion:

B: Drummond, Merrett, Patfull.
HB: Hanley, Lisle, Docherty
C: Rich, Redden, Polec
HF: Black, Brown, Polkinghorne
F: Banfield, Retzlaff, Hudson.
R: Leunberger, Rockliff, Zorko
INT: Adcock, Harwood, Bewick, Karnezis.

Yeah, McGrath on the flank would be good. Do you mean Centre Half Forward as in... in the middle? He's too short for that isn't he?
confused who you want where in your 22 Ringo :S

Maca24

Ringo McGrath isn't a CHF... he is a flanker. Power was never a CHF either.  :P
Brown in the pocket and Drummond at FB is ridicolous  :-X

Ringo

My apologies guys Yes McRath as Flanker not in the middle.

if you actually watched the brisbane lions games you would see that black normally starts on the bench. I put drummo as sub because he is too injury prone and i see being a sub as a way of easeing his way back into it

I know what happens...

This is a "best 22" i.e. provided everyone is 100% fit where would they line up....

Not a "this is what happens in real life, I agree w/ it, so I've copied it w/ 1-2 modifications"
