Shane Kersten coming your way via pick 34

MTTY

Very shocked, also Talia going at 39 to the doggies.

Here is prob the reason why Kersten dropped in the pecking order

QuoteThe long-kicking key forward said a small tear in his groin which showed up in an MRI scared some clubs off, but he was excited to be playing for a powerful club alongside a close friend.

Thanks to Freo picking the original "Hill", and changing the order of things the steal of the draft is still... Steele! Pick #11 from the 2008 draft. I remember cheering like crazy when the Pies picked him up!

Stephen Wells... Man is he good. Any club would want him.

From Emma Quayle
GEELONG: Two years ago the Cats traded one choice for two, slightly down the order. They ended up with Allan Christensen and Nathan Vardy when they would otherwise have landed just one. The club did the same thing this year, sacrificing its first choice, in the 20s, for two in the early 30s, and the end result is just as promising. Joel Hamling is one of the skinniest kids you will lay your eyes on, but he has enormous talent and is going to a club that can a) afford him that time and b) has a habit of getting the best out of kids. Shane Kersten loomed as a potential first rounder, and has a body that will allow him to play some footy early on should he knuckle down. Again, he's going to just the right club. Stephenson can fill a role right away and Lincoln Murphy brings speed and goal sense, but the biggest bargain was Jordan Murdoch, who was in the mix right up at Carlton's 22, and who the Blues considered veering from their Sam Rowe plan to get. He's another who'll need time to adjust, but he has remarkable speed off the mark and could have a say next year too.

THE VALUE PICKS

TODD ELTON (Richmond, No. 26). Athletically, can do some incredible things. Can the Tigers bring out his competitive edge?

DANIEL MARKWORTH (St Kilda, No. 35) Smart, quick player who'll help freshen up their half-forward line. Kicking was probably the reason he got this far.

SHANE KERSTEN (Geelong, No. 34) A natural, leading forward with some real power off the mark.

JORDAN MURDOCH (Geelong, No. 48) The steal of the draft. No idea why he got this far down, although some clubs think he will take a while to adjust to the demands of the system. Couldn't have joined a better, more grounded group of teammates.

Maybe we got 2 steals in this draft .. well done Wellsy .. you're the steal of EVERY draft

bunyip

They'll get a game in the pre-season comp. See how they go.
