Just because you beat the 8th, 9th or 1001th ranked team
The players (if they bat and bowl well) still get great confidence and energy from this
It gives players like Starc, Pattinson, Lyon, Ponting etc. a huge boost in self ability when they come against India
The more tests against NZ the better.

I agree to the Siddle statement though, there are much better bowlers available.

Exactly. Utm you are basically saying that this series is a waste. I can assure you now that if this series was not being played, then we will have performed worse against India than we will because it was played.

Every test match is an important opportunity, especially for such young bowlers. The experience does them wonders on the big stage.

The only ones who may be getting false confidence are some of the Australian batsmen. With the Kiwis dropping so many catches the likes of Hughes (dropped in both innings), Clarke (dropped twice and that no ball) both were lucky. Of course you take advantage of such opportunites unless you are Hughes and you go out the very next ball!

Drop Ponting, bring in Wade, play Haddin as a specialist bat for a season or two.

Hussey over the last 1-2 seasons (except last couple tests) has been our overall best bat, he and Watson would be duking it out for no.1 over last 2 seasons IMO

Hussey doesn't deserve to be dropped just yet.
Haddin cant bat. He barely ever bloody does anything.
Wade/Paine are our next keeper. If they drop Hughes for a bit, get Wade in as keeper and Haddin batting (just to help out Wade), I cant see how that is bad. Would give Wade great experience for when he becomes a full time keeper.

they will never play haddin just as a batsmen, c'mon people..
im sure they get confidence from beating nz,, but any confidence they get will be gone after spending all day bowling and india are 4 for 332 at the end of day 1 at mcg  lol
half of the kiwi's wickets were batsmen error

Same Line up
Wanted Christian to come in for Hughes and wanted Khawja to open

and Ed Cowan made another century after making one in the aus A game he surely must b knocking on the door

I don't think Christian should be playing just yet...
More benefit in giving Hughes another go, I believe he has what it takes if he can stop the silly shots to a degree.

I agree that Siddle isn't that good, and I'd rather a pace attack of Patto, Starc and Cummins (when fit).
Lyon is looking great as a spinner and isn't much competition for him.

My thoughts on the batting aren't so clear, as I'd love Ponting to stay for a bit longer...
That being said only one of him or Hussey can stay with lots of young talented bats around.

And Wade in for Haddin after the India Series. (Make it Hadds farewell).

Are we forgetting Paine?
I would love Pattinson,Harris,Starc,Cummins and Copeland as the pacemen we take on tour wen there all fit

Maca24

Wade or Paine... I like Wade cas he is Vic  :P

Cicjose

Paine has been out for quite some time with a broken finger

Haddin probably did just enough with the bat to retain his spot.

Cicjose

yeah okay?????

1 good innings in 18 months and your safe from the axe?????

selectors have no guts
