:(

Unheralded right-arm off-spinner Nathan Lyon was the stand-out bowler for Australia, taking a team-best 4-66 - the best Test figures by an Australian finger-spinner at the Gabba in 80 years.

we haven't had many good finger spinners......

Enter Dan Christian.

Wait, why has a First XI South Australian been picked?? Surely there are other 3rd XI New South Wleshmen or Victorians left to get a baggy green.

He should play, Hughes shouldn't, and they should set-up like this:
Warner
Khawaja
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
Christian
Haddin
Starc (He batted too well yesterday)
Siddle
Pattinson
Lyon

Day 4 underway

TWO EARLY WICKETS!!!!
Guptil and Williamson gone.
3/17

AND ANOTHER!!!
Taylor c: Haddin b: Pattinson
4/17

Pattinson on a hat-trick

AFEV

Patto is on fire :D
Nearly got the hattrick as well, was an excellent delivery.

What an over!!!

Pattinson now (so far) has figures of 5 overs, 4 maidens, 4 wickets for 1 run.

Amazing start.

Big question thats being raised...

...Will Australia bat again?  :o ;D

With Ryder almost dragging it on and the nightwatchman out there, along with Pattinson on fire, I don't think they will.

PowerBug

Roll them for less than 47. Will make the Aussies feel better after Jo'burg.

I'd say Vettori will put his head down and make sure we bat again.

He and Brownlie are definitely the key again.

Pattinson takes 5 as the nightwatchman departs!!  :o

5/7 on debut! Wow!

PATTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maca24

Brownlie and Vettori batting slow as hell.

1. Shane Watson
2. Phil Hughes
3. Shaun Marsh
4. Usman Khawaja
5. Michael Clarke
6. Ricky Ponting
7. Brad Haddin
8. James Pattinson
9. Mitchell Starc
10. Pat Cummins
11. Nathan Lyon

Reserve. P.Siddle, B.Cutting, S.Smith, M.Wade, D.Christian, J.Krejza, N.Maddinson, D.Warner, D.Christian, C.Ferguson.

No room left for Hussey or Johnson IMO.

If the Aussie squad was a 100% fit these players wouldn't be in the team:

Khawaja
Pattinson (yes he got a 5fer, but he's still only new)
Starc (didn't exactly impress, but was still pretty solid)

No doubt these guys will be the future, but you need your rocks like Hussey. I agree with Johnson, his time is up on the Test level.
