With that midfield, they are going to be in calculations!

Reckon Buenos Aires and Cairo will be the big improvers

Dublin should get far from the bottom I reckon, dont think I will change much  :(

My Chumps

I think we're favourite in the market without Mexico  :P

Honestly though, I think we do have another shot at the flag this season, but Mexico, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Moscow and even Cairo will offer stiff competition.

Just like to offer my congratulations to MARK AUSTIN being listed by the Cobras. While the defender didn't score high, he still played 11 AFL games last year and would have been wondering if his International career would ever begin after being one of the few players overlooked by every club last year.

Cobras are a tough line up to break into, but maybe the departure of Jack Grimes opens the door?

First Trade Completed in the Second Period

Another massive trade in Cobras history went down today, with equal B+F winner Joel Selwood leaving the club along with newly drafted Lachie Hunter in return for former Dublin players, Dale Thomas and Troy Chaplin.

"Strengthening our backline has of course been an objective for the offseason after the departure of Jack Grimes." Sayed MC, in regards to the trade. "Chaplin does that for us. He's shown that he can average 85, and we expect a similiar output this year. Dale is one of the best, if not the best, forward in the competition, and we're thrilled to get him on board."

The coach seemed almost upset when asked about the departure of club captain Joel Selwood. "It's a tough business. Joel always gave 110% for the club, and we never intended on trading him... but things happen. This offer from Dublin was just too good to refuse. We're definietly sad that Joel is no longer at the club, but we feel like this trade catapults us from 4th or 5th to a real premiership contender."

My Chumps

The recent heartbreaking injuries to the incredibly important Dale Thomas and upcoming starting ruckman Zac Smith has a silver lining; it gives a chance to two young players to be promoted from the rookie list to the full squad.

Mark Austin and Blaine Wilson are the two to have been promoted. We hope they can get a few games under their belts, and we wish all the best to Zac and Dale in their recovery.

Another Assistant Moves On

After roughly 10 months in Cape Town, Elephants is no longer assistant coach for the Cobras.
The talented and excellent coach has moved on to the bigger task as head coach of the New Delhi Tigers. Although not in the best of positions right now, Cobra head coach MyChumps is confident LE can lead the Tigers to a successful future.
"He was an excellent assistant, and the Tigers have made the right decision in giving him the job." he said. "I wish Elephants all the best for the future."
The Cobras too wish Elephants all the best.

Much like our previous assistant Spinking leaving to the Seoul Magpies in October last year, this again proves the want for coaches that have learned and preformed under MyChumps and for a successful franchise such as the Cobras.

Haha awesome man, will always have a soft spot for the Cobras ;)

Whoever is turning your assistant coaches into head-coach worthy people needs a pay-rise. Amazing effort!

Now that my season is officially over, thought I'd do one of these:

Looking to move on or easy to get
Greg Broughton, Nathan Bock, Troy Chaplin, Lee Spurr, Lynden Dunn, James Gwilt, David Astbury, Mark Austin*, Edward Curnow, Karmichael Hunt, Rory Taggert, Stefan Martin, Stephen Milne, Brendan Ah Chee*, Lewis Pierce*

Avaliable
Jobe Watson, Dale Thomas (M/F), Tom Hawkins, Colin Sylvia (M/F), Ryan O'Keefe, Adam Cooney, Zach Smith, Craig Bird, Billie Smedts, Sam Dwyer, Nick Haynes (M/F), Josh Hall, Campbell Heath, Easton Wood, Cameron Guthrie, Jacob Brennan, Cameron O'Shea, Matthew Dick, Dean Kent, Jordan Schroder

Valued and would rather be kept
Alex Johnson, Jasper Pittard, Blaine Wilson, Josh Cowan, Jeff Garlett, Gary Rohan, Josh Kennedy

Don't even try
Nathan Vardy, Trent Cotchin, Jeremy Cameron

When I say don't even try, I really mean don't even try. If I get one more PM about Trent Cotchin that doesn't start with "YOU CAN HAVE *insert best player on the team here* AND MORE IF YOU GIVE HIM TO ME", you'll have an angry MyChumps on your hands :P

Plenty of talent on offer. Looking for forwards and defenders as most of us are.

Reserves Glory

The Cape Town Cobras reserves side are premiers after defeating the Imperial Princes by 28 points last weekend.

Despite a poor season for the seniors in 2013, the reserves were solid throughout, finishing 5th after the regular season. But it was the finals where they really shined, knocking out second placed Hieroglyphics in the preliminary final amongst other scalps.
The best performance however came on the weekend. Led by Sam Dwyer's best on field performance with 99, the Cobras never looked in doubt, booting 17 goals on our way to a match winning total of 112. Wilson, Haynes and Milne were also among the best.
The match was a fairy-tale finish to the end of Milne's career. Milne bagged a late goal as the sealer, a moment he won't soon forget.
Mark Austin also played a key role down back. After being overlooked in multiple drafts, My Chumps and the Cobras gave him the chance, and he's grasped it with both hands, playing a key role in the win.

The success shows the excellent depth we have here at Cape Town, and the youngsters performing fills us with great confidence for the upcoming seasons to come.

Radical Changes Look Likely in Cape Town

After a bitterly disappointing season that saw the Cobras eliminated in the first round of finals, it seems that coach My Chumps is keen to initiate big changes.

Three trades have already been posted (although awaiting approval) seeing proven performers such as Sylvia, Broughton, Chaplin and fresh off his BOG performance in the reserves Grand Final, Dwyer, leaving the club.
In return, it seems the club is set on a youthful approach, adding only one player over the age of 21 in Lewis Jetta (24). Among the inclusions is talented youngster Jimmy Toumpas. Toumpas, taken with the second pick in last years international draft, had a tough first season for cellar-dwellars Wellington, but here at the Cobras we are confident of vast improvement, and seeing him solidify his spot in our best team for years to come.
Other inclusions include talented defender Jason Johannisen, up-and-comer Michael Evans, the talented Patrick Karnezis and a second round draft pick.
