Dom Tyson is clearly a reserves player.

I will help you out EOS and let you trade him to me for a second rounder though, coz I'm nice guy.
Unfortunately, at this stage even with his average of 70 he's in our best XV :P

Might have to start playing Everitt/Bird/Blicavs in the midfield considering how bad that line is atm.

Look at those ruck stocks though! Pretty sure Blicavs is actually averaging 98 for the season there Memph (typo, or is that his WXV average?) meaning we have two of the best three ruckman in the league at the moment. Not to mention a 21-year-old averaging 83. We've certainly come a long way from the team that named Lindsay Thomas as ruck in the 2012 Grand Final!  8)

You are right. I missed his score update this week. Updated now - he averages 98.25.

Cape Town Cobras player averages after Round 8

I haven't taken out sub-scores or anything otherwise Savage and Selwood would be higher on the list. Plenty of guys playing - just need to pick the best XV every week.

Only 7 of our 42 players are yet to get a game in 2015. That's pretty impressive.

Cape Town trade review

Trade 14
New York give: Mark Blicavs and Darcy Lang
Cape Town give: Nathan Vardy and Jamie Bennell

Mark Blicavs avg: 109.8.
Aside from Max Gawn who's just played three games he is the second highest averaging ruckman behind Goldstein. His lowest score is 73 and then every other score has been 94 or higher including six scores of 110+, four scores of 120+ and last week's score of 153. He looks like he has room for improvement as well.

Darcy Lang avg: 64.33.
He has played every game. Five scores of 70 or more this season and looks to have cemented a spot in the Cats starting 21 now. Loads of upside from here on in with his last three scores 87, 70 and 90.

Meanwhile Nathan Vardy has not played a game this season and Jamie Bennell has lost his regular spot in the Eagles side. Massive, massive win for us - possible the best trade of the 2014 off-season I think though

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Trade 35
Mexico City give: Pick 61
Cape Town give: Ryan O'Keefe

Clear win for us here with O"Keefe retiring after this trade was made. Although we actually didn't end up using this pick in the draft now that I look closer at it so that deadens the impact. Basically just a different way of delisting O'Keefe.

Trade 37
Cape Town gives: Zac Smith + Ben Reid + Nat 16
Tokyo give: Scott Selwood + Nat 9 + Nat 41

Trade 48
Cape Town gives: Nat Pick 41
New York give: Will Schofield and Brant Colledge

Grouping these together because that way you can see what Nat 41 was turned in to.

Interesting trade and it's hard to call at this stage. Zac Smith has struggled this season but so has Scott Selwood. Ben Reid hasn't played due to injury and that's the main reason why we were happy to give him up. I think Nat 9 and Nat 41 would be better than Reid and Nat 16 so probably a win for us. Both were on traded with Nat 9 turning in to Billy Longer for us and Nat 41 in to Will Schofield and Brant Colledge so i'll still count that as win.

Cape Town give: Dale Thomas
Berlin Brewers give: Lachie Hunter + Mitch Honeychurch + Pick 48

Dale Thomas didn't show much at all this year and is now out for the season so this trade looks like a win for us in the short term. Lachie Hunter has struggled a bit this year but Honeychurch got a few games so in the long term it will depend on how Honeychurch and Hunter develop compared with Thomas to determine the winner. Pick 48 was on-traded.

Trade 45
Mexico City give: Stewart Crameri, Brandon Jack
Cape Town give: Brad Hill, Jed Lamb

Probably a loss for us given how Brad Hill has been going and our struggles with the last midfield spot. Crameri has been disappointing so far but we're hopefully he can pick things up. Brandon Jack has surprisingly played one more game than Jed Lamb this season so that part of the trade could be considered a win for us.

Trade 50
Cape Town give: Matt Crouch + Patrick Karnezis
Buenos Aires give: #4 + #54

We won't know the outcome of this one for quite a while. I still maintain getting a Top 5 pick in the draft was the Wright decision and two-metre Peter getting games already this season is great news for us. I don't expect him to be a proper prospect for another three seasons so we won't know who's won this trade until then.

Nat 54 turned in to Nat 47 and Jaden McGrath who showed some good signs to start the year. Matt Crouch has shown more good signs this season but still needs to cement a first-team place while Karnezis played a couple of games but still looks on the outer at Collingwood.

Trade 63
Cape Town give: Cameron Guthrie + NAT #9 + NAT #34
Pacific give: Billy Longer + Cameron McCarthy + NAT #59

Another trade that will take a while to determine a winner however, on face value we came out of this one looking better than you might have thought when it was done due to McCarthy's emergence.

You've got to pay a good price to get a ruck (except for Blicavs it seems) and this was well worth it. Longer has become the Saints #1 ruck while McCarthy has been a real find, coming from nowhere to play every game this year and show some real promising signs. Nat 9 got Pacific Liam Duggan and Nat 34 got them Matthew Goodyear so if you factor that in then long term I don't know if we'll win the deal.

Trade 102
Cape Town give: Jack Darling + Nat 48 + Nat 70
New Delhi give: George Horlin-Smith + Shane Savage

I feel like I'm repeating myself again here with the "it will take some time to determine a winner on this trade" line but, this is another example. Darling has missed most of the season but has come back looking in similar shape to last season. Shane Savage has been really up and down and Horlin-Smith has been in and out of the Cats team.

I'm still happy with this deal. Horlin-Smith has been touted for big things and Savage could be a handy defender if he can stay fit and avoid the vest. I don't see Darling ever getting that midfield time that was touted and so I think long term we'll win this one.

Trade 115
NDT gives: Nat 5 + Nat 45, Nat 47 and Nat 57
Cape Town gives: Nat 4 + Nat 54 + Nat 59 + Nat 88

Not much in this trade.

Essentially all this meant was New Delhi got Pat McCartin while we got Wright (I rated the top 5 on a similar level and Wright > McCartin so happy with this).

With Pick 47 we ended up getting Nathan Drummond and Pick 57 Jaden McGrath, both of whom have already played this season which is a positive

Trade 139
Tokyo Trade: Trent West
Cape Town Trade: Pick 45

Trade 149
Cape town gives: Nat 52
Cairo: Karpany + H Marsh

Nothing trades - Losses for us really or expensive delistments as we didn't end up keeping West, Marsh or Karpany due to having too many players on our list

Trade Wrap

Overall one trade which was a massive win, one a bit of a loss and the rest we won't know for ages. I'll still give ourselves an A for the trade period for pulling off the Blicavs steal though. Especially given what Lang has shown as well.

Goldstein and Blicavs; they'd like to be as good as Gawn  ::)  :P

I've always rated Gawn. As someone pointed out the other day he's had to get over two knee reconstructions to get to this point. So, you might have found a gem for the future as a ruck.

Though I'm doubtful he'll keep his average above our rucks (Blitz and Martin) by the end of the season.

Also on another note given some of the team biases in the WXVs I'm seriously thinking about adjusting our drafting strategies in the future to pick up players from specific teams to then on-trade.

So far I've got that the Demons can be traded to Berlin (Tyson, Toumpas and some other Kent), Kangaroos (Dumont) to Toronto (or perhaps Dublin) and Eagles (Schofield, Scooter, Colledge) to New Delhi :P

roo boys!

Interesting strategy...I've made a conscious effort over the last few years to reduce the amount of North players in my team but seeing as they're about the only team I watch play on a regular basis nowadays, I'm inclined to only really see potential fantasy recruits if they're in the royal blue and white.

So yeah already considering offloading one of my North big guns at the end of the season....I do love Dumont though  :-[

Haha, he-he, ho-ho... *ahem*.

I direct you to the many poor souls that have been exposed directly to my hate-centre of the brain to answer why I will never have that guy on my list :P

Each year, I say no more demons.

Every year, I fail. However, I do end up with a net loss of demons  :P

Cape Town Cobras player averages after Round 13

Plenty of guys playing - just need to pick the best XV every week.

Incredibly only 3 of our 42 players (Toohey, Wagner and Plowman) are yet to get a game in 2015. That's pretty impressive.

Unfortunately for us though we have a lot of inconsistent players averaging around the 60-80 mark but scoring between 30-100 every week which makes team selection very difficult.
