My gut tells me that Nroo is a good pick in 2012 because he is a gun, he's underpriced and he will be determined to atone for a poor 2011 by his standards. My head tells me to wait for the NAB cup. St K will playing differently under Scott Watters and I want to see what his role is in the new structure/gameplan is before I stump up the cash. I also want to see how well he is moving.

Alot of us feel the same way as you, basically at this early stage youd be silly to completely out anyone really.
Who knows what a good pre season and the Nab cup can do for players.

DT Gun

I had Roo this year so watched his games closely. He gets double teamed constantly, against the better sides he struggled. His knee isnt a big problem, im sure that will get fixed up in the off season.

I think st kilda are on the slide, and their midfield isnt as dominant as it used to be. Although he loves playing north melbourne haha. He has a pretty good first half of the year, but second half is pretty hard, so bringing him in, getting his scores early and then trading him at the peak of his price is probably what i would do if anything. He has GC twice in the first 11 rounds.

The zone helped with the double and tripple teaming on him but the Saints made it easy for the opposition by looking for him so much.

I kinda thought his knee was his biggest issue mate as he lost alot of his running power, hopefully the clean up Operation will sought this but he's said it will bother him for the rest of his career and needs to be managed carefully.

The Saints mid field was down in 2011 but loosing Hayes and Montagna being down on form didnt help their cause.
I like you think their Premiership window is closing fast if not shut already.

Roo does like playing Nth Melb doesnt he lol, funny how some players have their favourites and always seem to score big against them

Im considering him for fyfe. Any value this year?

Colliwobblers

not a fan of eitehr roo, end of story. brown is in the same boat as nroo, capable but will could get triple teamed, brown is cheaper = brown over nroo, could you be mad enough to have both.

jroo well thats another topic

elephants

I have some mates that have locked him in but i don't think i will with the other better forward line options available.

nostradamus

at the moment he's not in my team....however there are 2 things that could sway me

1. a change in game plan.....as watters has hinted at
2. form

Colliwobblers

form is reportedly good, kozi too so if he provides an alternate option up forward it could help roo.

Yet fit roo runs like buddy and buddy is at least as much a target as roo is and buddy comes down the ground like roo does, there is a reason roo was elite like buddy is,

question is can roo get back to or can the saints allow him the opportunity to get back to buddyism....

It's funny that many people say no no no I'm not picking Roo this year bc he is done/no longer a premium/more interested in photography, but yet come NAB Cup time if he puts out a few good performances many of those same people will be saying "he's a lock in my team!" You can't possibly write him off this early! Paying attention to him in NAB Cup doesn't cost you a trade, so why not just keep an open mind when these sorts of topics are posted?

Off Tap

It's hard to go past him at his price. Proven DT'er, still only 29, new coach so new game plan, coming off a poor 2011 so will be keen to atone. He's ticking a few boxes for 2012.

+'s might outweigh -'s.

Guys,

Just want to hear your thoughts on Nick Riewoldt this year, apparantly he is travelling real well, has successfully cleaned up his knee and said he was feeling better then ever!

This guy when HOT dominates, and with lenny hayes, dal santo, Fisher, Goddard, Monty's providing good deliveries to him, surely he can bounce back!

Plus they have a new coach and surely he wont be playing lockdown footy like Ross Lyon did???

Your thoughts...........

An upgrade at best for me RD. Too badly burnt last year so for no other reason will not be starting him. As you say he may bust out a big one, but I will wait for the photo..like last years...(sometime the sickness just sneaks up on me...)
