The thing that gives me the showers about Eddie is that he expects Collingwood to be treated better than everybody else, thinks that they should be 'above the law' if you will

Provide an example :)
The fact that he spits it every time a Collingwood player is targeted, yet never says anything when any players from other clubs are. Not to mention the refusal to wear the away strip (which was eventually settled but not the point :P)

I'll concede the home guernsey thing, mostly because all other club are cowards who think there players will get confused ;)

"As long as they know ... this is not Melbourne where you can just walk in and steal the players.

Likewise I will concede that he did object to the Davis poaching, but from what he said there that was outside the rules, whereas stating that they will target Pendles isn't, yet he still goes off :-X

Nopt sure who i'm backing up here, but what makes him so special that's allows him to talk about every story in the AFL?? (ANd the cricket to add to that) I don't see other presidents commenting on every story coming out of the AFL. Eddie just wants the attention.

I can't wait for the day when his kids say they want to support St. Kilda or Carlton or Hawthorn or any other club. ;D ;D

to be fair, the point and reasoning for the rules wasn't really in play there. I'll agree that if they'd signed him, that was against the rules and breaking them. But the purpose of that rule is to stop players from lacking commitment to their club for the remainder of the season, and for still playing at their best level.

Since davis was rules out for the rest of the season with injury, the point behind the rule didn't really matter in that case.

Which means he was just being a douche for nothing :P

ossie85

Probably because he is a paid football commentator

you know, I really want pendles next year, and I really hope GWS get him.

Not because he's a great player (even though he is), but really to piss off eddie.

I really, really want him :P

I hope he leaves too. Just to see if Eddie is true to his word, and because I (like most people) despise him.

Same. Eddie is a low low person.

Come now. It is all fun and games to make fun of Eddie, he is very much fair game, much like Jeff Kennett.

But "low, low"  and "despised" person. This is a guy who has been awarded an Order of Australia for his work with health care and welfare, involved in countless charities, a guy who clearly has passion for what he does, and wishes to share his wealth.

So fair enough if you find him annoying or don't like him. But despising him and calling him a "low, low" person is just crazy.

I would like evidence of work Eddie McGuire has done in regards to mental health, otherwise you cant compare him to Jeff Kennett.

ossie85

I never said he'd worked with mental health, and I never compared him with Kennett, and Jeff Kennett's done fantastically well also.

bomberboy0618

You said Eddie is fair game, just like Jeff Kennett.
So yes you did compare them.

ossie85

Ah yes, sorry. I meant that they are both public figures. I wasn't comparing there social contributions
