A Cap.

Been thinking about this a fair bit. I think I have a solution.

SuperCoach does one thing that helps a lot. They scale there results. Each match has 3,300 points available (give or take). Need evidence? The average amount of points scored per match last week was 3,299.8.

Meaning (excluding captains bonus, penalties, etc) the average amount of points scored be each team across the ENTIRE squad is 1,650 points (3300/2).

There are 17 rounds. Meaning that 17 * 1650 = 28,050 points that each team will score on average across the entire home and away season.

How about this if you score over 33,000 points for those 17 rounds (which is 20 * 1650, a massive 18% above average) that you have to get rid players at the end of the season (through trading, delisting), to get under 33,000.

For example, say you've scored 33,500 points for those 17 rounds (finals are excluded from total). Say Chris Tarrant scored 700 points across those 17 rounds. If you delist Chris Tarrant your total goes down to 32,800, and you pass the cap. OR you trade Chris Tarrant for Orren Stephenson, who has scored only 100 points.

Meaning your points would be Total (33,500) minus Chris Tarrant (700) plus Orren Stephenson (100) = 32,900 and is still under the cap.

Thoughts?

The more and more I think about, the more I think we need a cap.

PowerBug

yup, sounds good oss. Read about the 3300 thing in the AFL prospectus. And the cap number is about right too. :)

I don't think i'll need to worry about the cap any time soon.

I'm for it!

Maybe a mid season vote is an order?

Boomz

I don't really think it's necessary...

Master Q

I think that's a very smart idea - however, it might be extremely difficult considering a trade limit?

There won't be a trade limit, at least not like this years.

Can 2 teams have the same player ???

CrowsFan

There is a dream team version, and a supercoach version.
