Stadium.

Name: Borg El Arab Stadium
Location: 50km West of Alexandria, Egypt
Capacity: 86,000
Primary Use: Soccer, until now.

As you can see, plenty of room to transform this stadium to become the home ground for the Cairo Sands.

With only 1 more round to be completed, it looks like it will be a tight finish for the inaugural Cairo Sands B&F medal

Next season, the medal will be named after this season's winner.

MajorLazer

After a disappointing season, the Sands look to be aggressive on the trading front. Check back here for a list of players that are on the block and feel free to PM me with any offers.

There is but I am going to hold the count on a different night. Would've done it tonight but had work.

Probably will happen late next week.

It'll be very interesting to see who takes the inaugural Cairo Sands B&F.

My money is on either Brad Sewell or Jack Redden.

MajorLazer

The B&F will be up tonight, but will be posted in 4 round intervals to give me more time to fine tune what I am typing.

There will be smaller awards given out during the breaks similar to the Jim Stynes medal night.

Stay tuned for more.  8)

Cairo Sands B&F

Voting system: Each game has 5 vote getters, with the best on getting 5, next getting 4 and so on til 1 vote. In brackets are the player’s SC scores. This doesn’t include captaincy or OOP penalties/bonuses.

In the result of tied scores, all players involved will receive the same amount of votes.

Round 1
Cape Town Cobras   22.14.146  def  20.13.133   Cairo Sands

Tough start to the season for the Sands with a first game loss to the Cobras, but there were enough decent performances to show some promise for the rest of the season.

Votes: 5-Matthew Rosa (119), 4-Josh J. Kennedy (115), 3-James Polkinghorne (109), 2-Pearce Hanley (104), 1-Brad Sewell (93)

Round 2
Tokyo Samurai   20.20.140  def.  17.12.114   Cairo Sands

In the second straight away game for the Sands, the boys were completely outclassed by a strong showing from the Samurais. Not the greatest of games to back up a decent performance in Round 1.

Votes: 5-Chris Masten (124), 4-Jack Redden (109), 3-Josh Hill (106), 2-Leigh Adams (94), 1-Matthew Rosa (86)

Round 3
Cairo Sands   19.10.124  def.  15.18.108   Paris Nice Lyon Reindeers

“Third time lucky” was heard from coach MajorLazer leaving the coaches’ box after failing to notch up wins in the previous 2 rounds. Some big games from a handful of players carried the rest of the lads on to the victory

Votes: 5-Chris Masten (135), 4-Sean Dempster (125), 3-Leigh Montagna (116), 2-Brad Sewell (80), 1-Josh Hill (78)

Round 4
Mexico City Suns   22.17.149  def.  17.16.118   Cairo Sands

A lacklustre showing form the Sands ensured a 31 point drubbing was handed down by the pre-season premiership favourite Mexico City Suns. Good performances were hard to spot in this game, where many failed to use the momentum gained from their first win in the previous round.

Votes: 5-Brad Sewell (122), 4-Pearce Hanley (118), 3-Leigh Montagna (94), 2-Chris Masten (90), 1-Seasn Dempster (85)

Montagna-6
Rosa-6

The first mini award presented tonight will be the Mr. Consistency award.

Mr. Consistency
This award is given to the player who performed the most consistently throughout the season.
Used the standard deviation to work this baby out and only took into account the players who were able to lock down regular starting spots in the 15.

The Winner is:
Taylor Hunt with a standard deviation of 13.3
Taylor performed very consistently throughout the season, but only averaged a measly 64.1 ppg.

Special mentions to Leigh Montagna and Danny Stanley who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Leaderboard for Mr. Consistency
Hunt           13.3
Montagna   14.5
Stanley   16.8
Adams   17.5
Dempster   22.1
Sewell   22.3

Round 5
Cairo Sands   18.16.124  lst.  24.14.158   Sao Paulo Pumas

A fairly average game from the majority of the Sands in Round 5. What made it worse is that they chose to have this game against another one of the hot favourites. Although playing in an unusual role for him, David Armitage had a breakout game for the Sands and we all hope it is a sign of what is still to come from him

Votes: 5-David Armitage (115), 4-Leigh Montagna (101), 3-Chris Masten (99), 2-Jack Redden (94), 1-Sharrod Wellingham (87)

Round 6
Wellington Warriors   19.16.130  def.  16.16.112   Cairo Sands

The fatigue from playing two dismal games against two quality sides had started to set in and it was time to face another strong outfit in the Warriors. The Sands once again failed to show any sort of fight and let the Warriors cruise away with the victory

Votes: 5-Josh Hill (119), 4-Shaun Hampson (115), 3-Matthew Rosa (94), 2-Pearce Hanley (91), 1-Brad Sewell (87)

Round 7
Cairo Sands   19.13.127  lst.  21.16.142   Moscow Spetsnaz

This game was the one pegged to turn the season around, alas the Sands were unable to pick up the win against the in-form Spetsnaz. The forward line was quite fragile and too many players could not live up to the expectations put towards them in the pre-game chat.

Votes: 5-Brad Sewell (140), 4-Jack Redden (118), 3-Sean Dempster (102), 2-Leigh Montagna (101), 1-David Armitage (88)

Round 8
London Royals   23.15.153  def.  18.14.122   Cairo Sands

On the plane over to the fabled football stadium, Old Trafford, there was a great sense of nerves about playing in front of so many people in this historic stadium. This nervousness got to the players, except Pearce, who being Irish, didn’t care about Manchester United, and really affected their performances. Another disappointing loss, to the Royals this time.

Votes: 5-Pearce Hanley (112), 4-Brad Sewell (97), 3-Matthew Rosa (94), 2-Danny Stanley (92), 1-Todd Goldstein (91)
