Seoul Magpies Votes

ossie85

Seoul Magpies Best and Fairest

Low key performance from the Seoul Magpies, with the club deciding that given they just missed the finals, they would acknowledge but not celebrate the club's achievements.

In every match, each player was rated out of 10. The total from those 17 matches (meaning 170 votes available) has been deemed the winner of the Seoul Magpies best and fairest.

1. Brett Deledio, 146 votes from 17 matches.

The Superstar of the Seoul Magpies. All-Worlds Selection, EurAsia Vice-Captain, 9 teams of the year, captained the team 12 times. A deserving win.

2. Patrick Dangerfield, 145 votes from 17 matches.

Was surprisingly close to Deledio this year, and himself had a break-out year with All-Worlds selection and EurAsia selection. Will be a superstar for years to come, and was a thrilling count.

3. Ryan Griffen, 117 votes from 16 matches.

Inconsistency cost him, but led the midfield very well for most of the year. Played for EurAsia, and was the Magpies top vote getting in the Jim Stynes medal with 10 votes, and captain Seoul for one week.

3. Jude Bolton, 117 votes from 17 matches.

A late draft pick, Jude was the surprise packet having one of his best AFL seasons.

5. Bryce Gibbs, 112 votes from 17 matches.

Captained the side for 4 matches, but many expected more from Gibbs this year as the club's #1 selection. Likely will have a change of position next year.

6. Luke Power, 108 votes from 15 matches.

Another surprising effort from a late selected veteran and was very solid in the forward line, and Seoul would welcome him back next year if he chooses to play on.

7. James Kelly, 102 votes from 14 matches.

Designed as a level head to bring consistency throughout the year, Kelly did just that.

8. Jason Gram, 89 votes from 13 matches.

Took him a while to debut, but once he was in the side became a staple in defense.

9. Ben McEvoy, 86 votes from 11 matches.

Would likely have been much higher had he not missed 6 matches through injury, Ben McEvoy will lead Seoul's ruck for years.

10. Jack Steven, 85 votes from 13 matches.

Very happy with the development of young Jack Steven.

11. Hayden Ballantyne, 84 votes from 14 matches.

Needs to work on his consistency, but is working hard.

12. Tom Scully, 73 votes from 12 matches.

I expect more from Tom Scully, and spend the last couple of rounds in the reserves as others simply overtook him.

13. Liam Anthony, 68 votes from 10 matches.

You get the feeling he is a good game from breaking out, and a bad game from being dropped.

14. Harry O'Brien, 65 votes from 10 matches

Another player that needs to work on his consistency, as his bright start faded.

15. Chris Yarran, 63 votes from 11 matches

Injury stiffled his output and development, expect a lot next year.

16. Matthew Scarlett, 43 votes from 7 matches

Started the year poor, but forced his way into the seniors with strong performances.

17. Alwyn Davey, 41 votes from 8 matches

Would need him to work hard, but answered the call when the forward line needed him.

17. Brent Renouf, 41 votes from 6 matches

Filled in for Ben McEvoy midway through the year with some strong performances.

19. Nick Maxwell, 38 votes from 6 matches

Provided strong depth but was in-and-out of the team.

19. Chris Dawes, 38 votes from 7 matches

Expected more, and was thought as a starting 4 prospect at the start of the year.

21. Rhys Stanley, 32 votes from 6 matches

Injury stifled him just as he found a place in the XV.

22. Eric MacKenzie, 17 votes from 3 matches

Failed to capitalize on his opportunities was a good depth player.

23. Stephen Coniglio, 14 votes from 3 matches

Earnt himself a rising star nominee with stiff midfield competition, but injury stopped his run.

24. Charlie Dixon, 5 votes from 1 match.

Strong late season form saw him make his debut in the last round of the year.

25. Ben Rutten, 3 votes from 1 match

The veteran looked out of sorts for most of the year in this format.

The Seoul Magpies would like to thank Ryan Griffen, Jack Steven, Brent Renouf and Ben Rutten for there services to the club. Ryan Griffen in particular, 3rd in our best and fairests, and rising superstar Jack Steven were the hardest to let go.

We welcome in return defender Paul Duffied, forwards Josh Kennedy and Brett Ebert, and young guns Liam Patrick, Seb Ross and Jay Lever.

Thank you Harry O'Brien for your service to the club, and we hope Shannon Byrnes can revitalise his career at the Seoul Magpies. A risky prospect, but with the announcement of the retirement of forward Luke Power, forward line depth is key.

So thank you Harry

Hello Shannon

and goodbye Luke:

You're welcome ossie. Love how they turned out.

Much better than the original. :P

Looks like Jude Bolton's last game today :(

Scarlett, Power and Bolton are big losses for the Magpies, starting to get nervous...

What's that I hear?

It's the sound of a wooden spoon...

...on its way to the Seoul Magpies. :P

lol, no doubt it does test me a bit!

Danger, Lids, Gibbs, McEvoy will see me through. Maybe this time I'll score in the bottom 4 and make the finals, rather than the other way around next year!
