ok let me put it this way- rockliff is going into his 3rd proper season (although technically his fourth), after having one year averaging at a gun DT level. Whilst ablett will still be relatively young (28) and broke out 5 years ago, having 4 consequative years above 110 DT average.

Ablett wins this based on being a proven gun.

As for the similar averages: ablett went into the start of the season carrying injury, a little underdone, but forced to play due to him pretty much carrying gold coast. This seriously dropped his average. Barring his injured game of 23 in round 16, ablett averaged since round 8 nearly 126 points per match

Even looking at rockys strong finish after round 13, he averaged 120 points
still really good, still really impressive. However, ablett clearly finished the season stronger for longer.

took a couple of seconds to research my friend, and the clear winner between the two is clear. IMO ablett will lift his average to 115+  next year ftr as gold coast improves as a team, he may even push the magical 120 barrier. However, rocky is in a position where he could drop his average 5 or more points next season.

the winner is blindingly obvious, it would take a horrific injury for me to change my mind otherwise (touch wood)

Ziplock out

:-X

Turkies

^Agreed with everything. This shouldn't be a question.

Or a bunch of minor injuries like ablett had this year.

Also this is a perfectly reasonable question

Ablett's Standard Deviation you'd find is significantly bigger than Rockliff's

Therefore, Rockliff is more consistant

Not meaning to bag ablett out but if you were in a choice it isn't simple  :P

how is the choice not simple? you would choose Ablett over Rockliff every time even knowing Ablett will miss a game or two.
you would be crazy not too, we all know Ablett had the injury affected 23 and was carrying a niggle at the start of the season

you're not going to choose Rockliff who had a breakout season even if it was 112 over Ablett who has average 111.7 + for four years running and he is going to improve that while GC improves, if you treat 2007 as Ablett's break out in DT 5 year average is 112.

Why limit yourself to one of these guys?

Ablett will be in every dream team this year, no question. He is underpriced and could easily get up to 120+ppg provided he gets a full pre-season under his belt. Rightly among the first picked.

Opposition teams might be more aware of Rockliff now, but Black and Rich will still get the heat from opposition run-with players. They are quality disposers of the footy and are more damaging than Rockliff. When Black retires, more attention could go to Rockliff but until then, I wouldn't worry about it. Rockliff is custom-built for DT, has a massive ceiling and he might just improve a bit on his 112 average. Remember that he also had an injury-affected score of 59 last year as well.

abletts standard deviation would be significantly bigger including the 23... if you look past round 8 once again for ablett, and past round 13 for rocky, ablett had a low score of 92 while rocky had a low score of 95. Then ablett had high scores of 175, 156, 147, 146 compared to rocky's 151, 138, 122

I'm sorry, that's just bent over and ass flowered. Yeah ablett was carrying niggles, so people talk about his injury factor, but tbh, only an absolute idiot picked ablett pre-season, we all knew he was carrying a groin injury that would take a few months to heal, so we all targeted him for an upgrade.

This is really a closed case, I'm sorry...

They're priced at the same, but ablett is underpriced while rocky is over priced. I don't understand how you can make the comparison once you just look at the basic stats...

^^^^^ Custardarm.. Don't waste your time commenting if it's not constructive.... Obviously you havnt seen the dream team averages from last year. Both average 112. I suggest you do some research of some sort...
Lol, take a chill pill.

"Obviously" me saying that means that the answer is
"Obviously" Ablett and that's as constructive as you can get with such a lop sided question, because......
"Obviously" if you had to pick one it would be Ablett.

"Obviously" you didnt finish in the top 1000 and
"Obviously" your the only person who voted for Rockliff.
"Obviously" you have never seen me post before because if its worth saying Ill give a detailed opinion (i.e Didak post)
"Obviously" my response was concise and speaks for itself.

That constructive enough for ya?!?

Sick of picky barbies like you taking offence to nothing! Read between the lines you might learn something.....oh yeh my Ranking 2011  DT-613, SC-319

calm down guys, don't get agitated for no reason

Patrician

I'm going Rocky, because I'd be seeing Ablett as an upgrade target for later. Brissie are a slightly better team and you'd also think Rocky would be cheaper.

Its hard to compare them though. I'm not sure they would be competing for the same spot in my midfield.

Seconded. Save it for the 2012 regular season  ;D

lol, i never voted. Wasn't being picky. Was just wondering what people thought, and got some good feedback. Hence it was a reasonable question.

And even if we didnt finish in the top 1000, at least we give better advice than blah blah blah im awesome blah blah blah.

wow, so much hate for this dude. I actually thought his query was legit (even if he phrased it harshly)

It's a really clear cut case, both by gut feeling, and by stats.

Isnt this a forum for getting help? This guy wanted help, and Custardam wanted to start a flame war. Its what he does.
