FREMANTLE

Picks: 16, 20, 29, 58, 71, 74

Man with the plan: Brad Lloyd â€" General Manager Player Management

What the Dockers need: Fremantle’s plans for 2012 suffered a cruel blow when Melbourne snatched big Lion Mitch Clark from within their grasp during trade week. Clark could have provided the tall forward target the Dockers so desperately need, freeing up Matthew Pavlich to spend more time in the midfield.

Kepler Bradley and Chris Mayne led the goal-kicking with 25 apiece in 2011. Enough said. A key forward prospect is a must, whether it’s a young gun or mature-age marking target. The other priorities are a rebounding half-back and a versatile defensive stopper.

I don't agree to have Matthew Pavlich more in the midfield i do think we need another ruckman that can develop under Clarke

what i would like the club to get would be:

16 Key forward
20 Ruckman
29 Midfielder
58 Forward
71 Midfielder
74 Backman

any other suggestions?

I think Griffin as the number 1 ruck and clarke as the support could work, than clarke can take over in a few years when sandi retires.

Cicjose

Griffin is only a short term solution

that is why i would like to get another ruckman

CrowsFan

Griffin is 25, you can keep him for years. Not that short of a solution

exaclty if you wanted to he could play for 6 years, than you have 6 years to find a ruck to play under clarke.

okay then would you use griffin as primary ruck next year and use more of Sandilands forward?

no because sandi is still a better ruck than griffin personally if it was me i would play Sandi in the ruck and clarke up front, even think about playing all 3. If its only Sandi and Clarke playing maybee rest up sandi ever so often and have griffin and Clarke rucking.
Griffin is a good enough ruck that he can be used in the H&A season but you really want sandi when your battling it out in the finals.

We have 3 genuine rucks on the list (Sandi, Griff, Zac) with Keplar/Johnson who can pinch hit... even Silvagni has played in the ruck.  We still have a NSW Scholarship player Moller who is 200+ cm who we have first option on in next years draft.  He played in this years U-18 carnival as an underage player and played in all games except for 1 averaging about 12 - 15 hitouts (as the second option)

So in short - NO I wouldnt draft another ruck.  KPP is our weakest link

KPF
Pav - Should be forward for rest of career
Anthony - needs to prove himself

KPB
McPharlin - only has a few seasons left in him
Grover - will prob retire after next season
Silvagni - future gun
Faulks - needs to prove himself.

Keplar and Johnson are swing men - able to play any role ok but cant be considered a KPF or KPB (or ruck).

Moller would be a development player in the same vein that Zac has been.  Will need a few years in the WAFL developing both his ruck and forward game.  It would give us 4 years difference between all of our rucks

Sandi = 29
Griff = 25
Zac = 21
Moller = 17

If that isnt great planning for our ruck stocks then I dont know what is

So, to answer the question again ---- no we dont need a ruck :)

should we go for Brandon Ellis and Shane Kersten?

Ellis sounds like the perfect swingman, i reckon going for him would be a great move

set him up at FF and then play him with Kersten at CHF in a few years time :)

but i think pick 16 should go to Ellis and Kersten at 20
