Oh there were pretty strong muscles  ::)

It just didn't really look like it or show up on the scales

plus I was just 14 so I don't think it had the same effect as it would with adults

and I was a permanent red line across my abdomen from all the sit-ups  :(

General exercise is better I would say
Alright. well I was thinking about doing sit ups and push upa every night, but if you don't think it is worth it?
Depends on what you're trying to do.
Well build/define my muscles.
push-ups are good, not a fan of sit-ups though

try doing planking for ab exercise (not the ridiculous fad planking, although depending how you do it it could be effective :P) by laying stomach down and supporting yourself on your elbows/forearms, while only having them and your feet touch the ground, it's actually pretty hard to do for an extended period (provided you keep your body straight, like a plank ;))

Yeah planking is a good one for your abs.

McRooster

Today we had a conference...

Morning - tea and biscuits.

Lunch - BBQ grilled Kransky's or Bratwurst (I chose both) style hotdogs with all the trimmings.

Afternoon tea - lamingtons, donuts, cupcakes

Dinner - 300g Wagyu surf'n'turf with chips and the obligatory salad.

+ At least 5 imperial pints and 4 wines.

= Reality check of current input v output

At my peak I was doing 600/700 sit-ups a day. The afternoon session consisted of various sets and difficulties and half were always using a swiss or medicine ball. Incline or hanging off a table burns and builds the most. If you use a dumbell behind your head you can really burn your triceps too as you incline.

Roost in a happy place...

I go and have dinner and look what happens - it turns in to nude photos of Rooster.
*Warning - this next image may offend  ;)

Semi naked maybe more akin to this forums PG rating  ;D

Had you donated to much blood that day Rooster, you look like snow mate.

Went for a bike ride yesterday... was out of the house for ~50 minutes... had a few breaks for a few minutes here and there...

Wasn't sure how the dog was handling it (Blue Heeler) so I gave him a few rests, like once where he dropped a few hundred metres behind me. And at the turn around point we took a quick break (was hot) and then we stopped alongside part of the creek so he could play fetch in the creek.

I estimate I actually rode the bike for ~40 minutes

Today I played tennis w/ the sister for a while, ~11 games worth.

At the gym today attempted a go on the treadmill. Lasted about 10 minutes before the ankle started giving me grief so stopped and jumped on the bike instead...  :(

good job Nails ;)

I just did 50 pushups and ~1 minutes of planking, gave the abs and chest a good workout :P

EDIT: I find I have a similar issue CF on a treadmill, it kills your feet and ankles :-X

Yes but my issue is because I tore the ligaments in my ankles ;)
If you are finding it kills your feet and ankles it probably means you haven't got a good pair of shoes on. Buying a good pair of shoes is easily worth the extra money you have to pay for them, trust me on that :)

Also if you like planks you should do the rolling plank. To do this start in a plank position, but then roll yourself so you are facing sideways with just one arm on the ground. After 30 seconds roll back so you are in normal plank position (without resting in between by putting your knees on the ground or whatever), then after 30 seconds roll so your other arm is the only one on the ground. Then 30 seconds later roll back to the middle etc. See how long you can last >:D

I hate planking. Its bloody hard.
If you find pushups too easy, do this:
Put your knees on the ground, legs in the air. Form a diamond with your hands, and put that on the ground.
Now try and keeps your elbows straight and touching your ribs, and touch the diamond with your chest.
Thats a good workout if done right.

CrowsFan

Exactly what I was thinking pyro. That is physically not possible. Just like it is impossible to lick your elbow ;)

I still don't get it, can you link to a vid?

CrowsFan

Basically pyro they are called diamond pushups. Instead of having your hands about shoulder width apart you make a diamond with your hands. You then do a pushup as you normally would with you nose touching the ground inside the diamond. They are extremely hard.

Another type of pushup you could try is the air pushup. Here is a video showing an air pushup, it's near the end of the vid so keep watching ;)
