The Greatest Team of All?

Cleaning up my computer, and came across a little analysis I did back in 07. Using a simple method to work out who the best team of all.... Have updated it to present, and have the following results.

Simple scoring system:
Premiership = 4 points
Runner-Up = 2 points
Top 4 = 1 point
Bottom 4 = -1 Point
2nd Last = -2 Points
Last = -4 points

In seasons where there where less than 8 teams, the scoring system changed slightly. 1916 when Fitzroy finished last, but won the flag, the Tigers are given the spoon...

1. Collingwood: 118 points from 115 seasons
Premiers: 15, Runners-Up: 26, Top 4: 33, Bottom 4: 9, 2nd Last: 5, Spoons: 2

2. Carlton: 89 points from 115 seasons
Premiers: 16, Runners-Up: 13, Top 4: 30, Bottom 4: 5, 2nd Last: 7, Spoons: 3

3. Essendon: 74 points from 113 seasons
Premiers: 16, Runners-Up: 14, Top 4: 19, Bottom 4: 13, 2nd Last: 4, Spoons: 4

4. Geelong: 26 points from 112 seasons
Premiers: 9, Runners-Up: 9, Top 4: 30, Bottom 4: 16, 2nd Last: 11, Spoons: 5

5. Richmond: 11 points from 104 seasons
Premiers: 10, Runners-Up: 12, Top 4: 12, Bottom 4: 27, 2nd Last: 7, Spoons: 6

=6. Adelaide: 10 points from 21 seasons
Premiers: 2, Runners-Up: 0, Top 4: 4, Bottom 4: 2, 2nd Last: 0, Spoons: 0

=6. West Coast: 10 points from 25 seasons

Yep, to make it fair we should do that. And give Adelaide all of Norwood's premierships.
Especially the Port one though as they are now "One Club". :)

Length of time doesn't really matter, Crows, Lions and Eagles do quite well!

Same. Runners up doesnt really mean anything. Suppose without it you couldnt have gotten the pies on top :P

Just be thankful I counted 16 for Essendon and Carlton, and not 15 like they deserve ;)

Would be  a great idea but would be a bit difficult when comparing eras -
However with Brisbane it is a case of who would force their way into our premiership teams and who would they replace players like Brad Boyd, Richard Champion, Matthew Clarke, Josh Drummond, Adrian Fletcher, Scott McIvor and Michael Rischitelli.

Could be an interesting exercise for some of us club stalwarts over the break period.
