Thinking about starting again

I am thinking about starting fresh with my senior team.  I know a few people have done this so I was wondering if they had any advice.

I got told only if you had an old side with not many young players

I wouldn't start completely again if you have solid seniors (mid 20's). If you have players in their mid 20's, could sell those who are reaching 30 and replace with young players (20-22) for the long term. Will allow you to remain competitive while still rebuilding of sorts.

I was sorta going to do that anyway.  I have a 24yo out/outs opener that I was going to keep.  I also have a 22 accom/accom/accom AR that I was also going to keep (Reli captain/endurance as well).  Undecided about keeping my 25yo out/out wristie - he would make me a lot of money which will mean I can get better younger players but he would also be strong for my team.

Valk, I have a young side - average age about 22.5, but I also have 28yo batsmen with a 26yo LFS and a 25yo LF. Also have a 24yo RM. The rest of my side are 21yo and younger, but the experience of the oldies comes in handy. I'm selling my 24yo keeper ATM, and I don't know what I'll replace him with, but it will probably be a 20-21yo

I would advise to keep the best 2 of your 23yo+ players especially to just balance out your side.

Now probably isn't the best time to re-build. If you decide to go young, you should wait til EOS as there will be a much greater variety of player available to buy, especially for 20yo's.

Definitely keep a couple of older players for experience. Once your young players develop you can sell these guys off and replace them with younger guns.

One thing I would also strongly advise would be to rebuild over 2 or 3 seasons. Doing this will allow you to know exactly which players you will want to target, and allow you to budget for the required players. It will be extremely hard to build a solid team of 20/21yo's in just one season.

If you do decide to go young - good luck. It is a hell of a lot of fun developing your own players  ;)

* oh and congrats on the Nat assistants position  :)

It will definitely be at EOS if I go down this path.  Prob at 70% decided to take this path.  Prob keep my WK and a young batsman and young bowler.  Still undecided about my outs/outs wristie (25yo).  Young enough to be of worth to the team but he would prob make me a substantial amount of money which I could use to pick up some quality youths.

Outs/outs isn't great at 25. He is the type of player that you should be looking to sell if you decide to go young.

I have Outs/Outs 26 y.o's (Who I've had since they were 20/21). Most people aim for Spect/Spect, but I got secondaries on them so don't mind if they are Outs/Outs if they make your team ;). Wristies are hard to find good ones but can make some cash off him if you do want to get rid of him.

I should have explained myself better. My point was that he would be able to find a decent 20yo wristy and train him up to be much better than outs/outs. I bought this guy for $400k at last EOS - Ayrton Senna

So what I'm saying is that he should sell his outs/outs 25yo wristy so that he can invest in a quality 20yo wristy and train him into a much better player.

Ah, I get your point now. If he can get the luck to manage that much cash from his Wristy, it's a great plan long term (or if you're as lucky as Baz, medium term as well :P).

That's what I am undecided about - whether the money gained from selling the 25yo wristie will be enough to get a young player who I can develop.

Another option that has been brought to my attention:

Sell off all my Senior Squad and replace them with cheap waged losers.
Invest all my money in to my YA to get to lavish.
Replace all my current youth squad with a bunch of ord/ord 16yo and play them in every match (SOD, YOD, T20) for the next 4 years.

Yes.... they will be clinically dead pretty quickly but think of the experience when they turn 20 :)

I like that idea valk, only concern would be is if you got sick of losing basically every game for a few seasons. If you could handle that then I say go for it :)

I can handle the losing.   The more I think about this option the more I like it.
