And again relatively small crowd. Australia really needs to learn how to kick the round ball accurately.  Too many easy intercepts because of the way the ball hangs in the air,

As the commentators were saying (and I agree), noone wants to play international rules in Australia, they all want to go to Ireland for the trip.

that and the when its in Ireland the atmosphere of its is great, they have most of their stars playing and i think they get big crowds.

i used to really like this concept, now its just terrible.
tell me why anyone would pay to see an Australian team with stars like Robinson, Nicoski, Ward, Green and Monfries...*yawn*

why doesnt the AFL just get it act together and give us what we really want...AFL State of Origin!!!

or if they want to persist with a version of an International game, make it actually AFL Internations, there is an International Cup for AFL which the Aussies arent in (as we'd kill most other teams) but still Canada and the Netherlands have cricket teams and we play them in the World Cup.
I'm sure an Irish AFL team and maybe the Kiwis would give us a bit of a run, even the Figians if you put Naitinui and Rodan on there team wouldnt look too bad

Crazy browny, pit the All-Australian team against the best of the rest of the world, and it would be a 300 point thrashing, minimum!

But the lack of stars in this international rules team was very disappointing. I heard that (not sure if true) that Travis Cloke - who has the speed, strength and nobody can kick the round ball anyway - wasn't even asked!

so who cares the Aussie cricket team smash the low level countries each World Cup, but youd still go to watch it.
Would then give the countries something to aspire to if we had a proper AFL International Cup and then would give international recruits a better way to look a potential targets.
It wouldnt really matter if the teams got flogged, the turnouts at stadiums around Australia would be massive as people would just want to see players like Judd, Ablett, Swan, Pendlebury, Cox, Franklin, Goodes, Cloke, etc. all playing together.
But as I said an Irish team including Pearce Hanley, Tadhg Kennelly, Marty Clarke, Setanta O'Halphin, Colm Begley and Tommy Walsh plus their others good runners would make it a little bit more competitive

as for Travis Cloke - the players have to nominate, theyre not gonna call every AFL player and ask them to play

i disagree, i don't think it would matter if all the stars came out, the match would be a joke. The VFL, WAFl etc.. clubs would be bad enough but who would turn up to see stars essentially train. It will just be sandi taps it down to X who kicks it to Y and goal over and over again.

The only thing that works is either the international series or Stae of origin. It would be much better if the international series continued but with the like of pendles, swan, judd playing.  If players  dont turn up for the international why would they turn up to a world cup. Australi could field the worst players form each club and still win easily.

its been shown that the AFL stars down do very well in the international rules, its not our game, we may aswell play the yanks in a hybrid version of AFL and NFL... International Rules is a sh!t concept and is ruining footy.
the players wouldnt get a choice, if your picked for the ALL AUSTRALIAN team your in, with the exception of injury, none of this "ohhhh im going on holidays" bullsh!t, you forfeit that right in this stage of the season as u get paid millions of dollars to do something that u love
its worth a trial isnt it? i think weve persisted long enough with the irish game, lets play our game, not theirs, and lets flog them for a change
but my big push would be State of Origin, it used to be huge, and I know that was mainly because it was the VFL back then and not the AFL but its a great competition at U18s level, etc. why cant we do it at the top level again. the crowds will come no matter where u put a game as who wouldnt wanna see a Victorian team with Judd, Ablett, Swan, Pendlebury, Goodes or a WA team of Cox, Sandi, Kennedy, Franklin, Swallow or an SA team of Gibbs, Pavlich, Didak, Waters

Love state of origin, would love to see it back.

But I'm not sure how International Rules is ruining football..... that statement confuses me. If anything, it brings more Irish to the game

yeah your probably right, i think it could be a good idea if all states had their own team (Vic 2) and NT teamed up with the international players.

Why not just Vic, SA, WA, NSW/ACT, Qld, Tas and NT/Int. Why should Vic get two teams?? If players aren't good enough to make the original team that's just Tough! I'm sure that SA, WA could easily match it with the best of Vic.
