And Petrie can more than hold up a ruck spot.
Along with CHF, CHB or FF

Nice joke.
What? This is the first year Petrie has ever played solely FF and Ruck, before that he was used as a backmen and a forward. Not sure what you're smoking?
It's irrelevant though because if Petrie tried to play as a CHB/CHF he wouldn't do very well.
There's a difference between being able to play in a position and having played there.
I guess that's why we played him there consistently, because he wasn't very good at it.....You guys are treating Petrie like he's Jason Laycock, I don't think we're talking about the same player.
Do you honestly think he'll move there though? Who would you kick to?

Exactly. It's completely irrelevant because he is not going to be playing there.

Petrie used to play in he Backline? He must not have been very good in the backline.
I honestly don't know how to respond to this. That comment is just so dumb it is embarrassing for the person who said it!

He was Mr Fix-it. He basically played anywhere where the team needed him.

Just some other questions for you Torpedo that I hope you can answer because I am a little confused.

Andrew McLeod and Simon Goodwin used to play in the midfield, but then moved to the back line. Did that mean they mustn't have been very good in the middle?
Matthew Pavlich used to play as a KB but then got moved to the forward line. Does that mean he wasn't a very good defender?

If you could just clear them up for me that would be great :)

if Hurley becomes a permanent CHF that would mean he is a useless CHB right?

That seems to be the consensus yes ;)

@crowsfan I don't pay much attention to other teams. RB is right about this. Players play where they are needed. I know what you mean now crowsfan and that's why I can't answer your questions, You were right. I sometimes make assumptions to quickly.

Why would you answer something then when you don't know what you're talking about?

This may be a long post as I missed out on a bit :P.

Swallow - Watson
Harvey - Stanton
Greenwood - Howlett
Atley - Hocking
Cunnington - Zaharakis
Speight - Melksham
Harper - Winderlich
Bastinac - Heppell
Adams - More of a HFF in 2011.
Anthony - Can't get a game
Wright - Reimers
Gartlett - Prismall
MacMillan - Colyer
Goldstein - Bellchambers
Hmac - (I thought he was going to magically gain the ability to play asa CHF :P ) Hille

Sure you guys might win out but the difference is not as big as you make it out to be. With JZ and Wells, it is better. Without them the diff is non-existent in my opinion.

Now talls ~
Michael Hurley -
Cale Hooker -
Tayte Pears -
Dustin Fletcher -
Jake Carlisle -
Ariel Steinberg -
Stweart Crameri -
Paddy Ryder -
Midfield for both teams are quite young so probably quite even. Rucks should tilt to Kangas IF we are to compare Goldy to one of our Ruckman by themselves. If we are to go Ruck Combos, it'll be alot closer as Bombers have some depth in there and Kangas have Hmac...

Essendon have done well building the Spine of their team, something Kangas probably haven't done as well. Kangas have solid players but Essendon have built their spine to go on for the next 10 years (Taking into account Fletch's retirement).

Petrie is impossibly better than Hurley. Petrie 129 marks, 48 goals. Hurley 72 marks, 19 goals. Ahem.

Grima is still a great defender. He was injured in pre-season, hence why he was struggling at the start of this year, but when he gets a full pre season under his belt he is our best defender.

Ryder is better than Pedo at the moment, yeah, but on has played one season and the other has played 5...
Ryder is better than PedoBear. His upside is probably more than Pedo and he is still quite young. Pedo has played only one season as you said, how he is regarded on level terms with Ryder I have no clue....

Right now, Petrie probably the better Forward than Hurley. But I'll quote Ossie in saying:

I bet Hurley will be better in 2 years times when Petrie has retired....
Petrie is getting on in age, so if somebody is building a team now, Hurley would be chosen ahead of Petrie. Essendon don't have a great FF but Hurley makes a fine CHF 8). May not be the best in the Comp in a couple of seasons, but he's going to be great for the club with his impact and versatility.

It doesn't matter if it's a one point win or a ten goal win we will still win.@ Holzman He will become the best player in the comp.
He won't get anywhere near best player in the Comp in my opinion. He'll go great at Essendon but I rate other CHFs ahead of him in the long run (e.g Cloke, Buddy, Watts, etc). He has the potential to go far and could possibly become an Elite player, I just don't see him becoming the best in the Comp (As an Essendon Supporter as well).

As for HMac...I suppose we can compare this to Schrodinger's cat ;) We will never know until we open the box...
Haha! I think North will try what Essendon did this year, throw in a Ruckman up forward and see how it pans out ::).

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT
You just wish someone could pick a fight with you CF, but as Adelaide, you've already lost every argument. :P
BAHAHA!!!!! The thread was quite fun to read but at times quite annoying at the biasness. It shall be an interesting match up next season, in which Essendon will win :P.

Cookie Monster

Torpedo! I am an Essendin supporter myself and live a little banter here and there, but seriously mate you're taking it so far past the line, you can't even see the line, infact, the line is a dot too you! (<< Sid :P)

1. The 2011 season is over, gone, forgotten, why the flying flower woukd we say " Oh we finished 1 spot higher with 1 more win on the ladder Last year! that does not count!

2. Premierships, Brownlows, Rising stars and what not have nothing to do with an AFL Round 1 match

3. you have no clue on how good players really are.

Heres the truth and it has been said many times, North have better mids, Essendon have KPP, and yes Holz, that means Michael Hurley, no he has not got a goal against a top 4 side, but his 21 his still learning! 2-3 years time he'll be kicking 4-5 against them, he kicked, 4 against North and 8 in total against Dogs, and hey, his a fullback-centre-half-foward man, not all the timee full foward.

And yes his better than Petrie, he has more influence!

RB abd c4, yeah nice stats, but they mean jack shower.

I'll leave everyone here with the thought of what happened the last time the 2 teams met in a Round 1 Encounter?? eh!

Cookie Monster

also, just found the biggest wait, what? moment of all time.

Didn't you just go on a rant on how past games don't matter ;) And if it didn't wouldn't the last game the two sides count for more?

Cookie Monster

I never said how past games don't matter, i did say stats don't mean for nothing, past ladder positions, plus the last time we played, the 2 teams were all injured and fatigued, that statement, my friend, is a direct one too the topic.

Torpedo10

There is a chance he could but it's less than fifty-fifty. I thought I did understand NMF but It turns out I didn't. It will be an interesting match. Oh come on Cookie give me a break we were both arguing but I will look back at it and see it as a waste of time. We will wait till round 1 and then we will see who will win. I've just started FF so It takes a bit time to learn where the line is but trust me I'm learning where the line is fast! To Fast!

Cookie Monster

oh, you're not that far across the line, thats just a quote from a tv show i like :)
