That final game is going to be very very interesting depending on our ladder position...

>:D

Won't be the final game... 23 rounds next year, not 22.

May attend a few GWS games myself

It is the final game, I just made an error writing it up. Fixed now.

I'll definitely be at the Roos v GWS game at Etihad; it'll be good to see not only the newest team on the block, but also a fantastic win! :P Plus I figure, I'll help support the club financially as that game is just going to destroy us...thanks Etihad douchebags.  >:(

the Giants will be just about as competitive as the Suns, if not more, the Giants have had far more latitude allowed to them to get a good list going and will surprise people, one thing i think is the Giants will have a better forward line than the Suns had, Jonathon Patten is an out and out gun, he might not set the world on fire next year but give him 2 years and he will be in the top 6-7 big forwards in the comp.

Where is their Gary Ablett?
Richitelli?
Bock?
Brennan?

They're got no-one of this quality yet, so they will struggle IMO.

And anyway, how competitive were the Suns in their first few rounds? 100+ point losses...

Agree with Roo Boys here.  Despite the Suns being competitive it took 4/5 rounds to get some team work going as you would expect.
Disappointed GWS did not go for some experience as well to assist No Ablett or others.

They did get McDonald, Power, Chornes and Brogan.

.... Still think they'll get Lovett and Fevola also.

But, nowhere near as good the mid-20s players the Suns got

Everyone bases their view on the Giants not having a "Gary Ablett" and that is wrong. Richa was good for half a season, Bock was solid, brennan up and down, Harbrow did nothing, Ward is an under rated midfielder, thought he had a decent season, Chad Cornes can play the lose role off half back, Phil Davis is pretty much a younger Bock.

yeah in a couple of years those players will be dominant.

ATM they are still developing, Davis is injury prone, Cornes is old and rusty, Ward is underated, but not that good.

They will not be competitive!

roo boys!

Anyway, fixture out today. I like it, I think we have gotten off pretty well here.

Here is my pros/cons rundown on the fixture.

PROS

1. Potential sell-out blockbuster against Essendon in Round 1. Awesome way to start the season off.
2. Three consecutive home games to start the season. Great commercial opportunities.
3. Two games against both GWS and Gold Coast! Very happy with this!!
4. Nine out of eleven games in Melbourne to finish the year off, with seven games in a row.
5. Seven six-day breaks. One of the most of any AFL club.

CONS

1. Only one game at the MCG, again. Even Adelaide, Brisbane, Fremantle, Gold Coast, GWS!, West Coast and Western Bulldogs play more games at the MCG than North. Where's the logic?
2. Sunday twilight fixtures. The equal most of any club; the other is Port Adelaide.
3. Only eight games free-to-air, and only three of these are home games. The least of any non-Victorian team.
4. Only one Friday night game. Shafted again.
5. Eight interstate games (that includes two in Hobart). Lot of flying there.

Overall, I think it's a good fixture for North. Good, but not great. That one MCG game and one Friday night is just plain frustrating. But the two games against GWS and GC are a fantastic percentage booster.

What are your thoughts? Have I missed anything?

Even North fans know that they'll soon become the Tassie Roos :(

It'll be a lot easier to beat you guys when all of your players have 11 toes ;D :P

will give them more stability, so they will be harder to take to ground.
