NOt sure how to post up the pics on here yet in the posts but i have a lot of pics of a lot of big fish we catchmainly on out annual charter trip to Swains Reef off Gladstone.

Also do a weekens whenever possible and go off the islands to flat rock and deep tempress. Not a fan off beack fishing but do it with the kids from time to time for thier benefit and love to catch a flathead more than anything.

But the big reef fish is more  what i chase than the sports fish catch and release jobs ny old man likes to go for mackeral and marlin and take photos, i prefer a tasty reef fish in my frying pan :)

Friends of mine recently got back from a big trip out to swains. They caught bucket loads. I did alright out of them too. Hahaha

Does yabbying count as fishing? Went twice last week :o

Which one do you hit nails? I live close to north pine and go for some red claw fairly often.

The old man and I are off on a charter on thursday. Hope to get some nice fish. I will post some photos if we get anything.

i love my fishing i used to go alot when i lived in the northern territory but havnt been very much since i have lived in victoria but my best catch was an 83 cm barramundi fishing on the tiwi islands

NT is a great place to live if you like your fishing, heaven on earth up there. Im hoping to get to that part of the country soon and enjoy what everyone raves about. Thats a decent Bara mate well done. Hoping to crack the metre one day.

Heard alot about Swains Reef and read a bit about it, seems to be a hot spot.

Just want to revive this thread :)

Anyone got any stories or spots that they want to share?

No extreme fishing for me. A quiet riverbank or late afternoon on a surf beach. Even have a wormfarm for freshwater bait . Doesnt get any less extreme than that. Have been addicted for many years.... 8)

Capper

i dont mind fishing but i dont go that often. Usually go up north past Grafton on the Clarence or out off Yamba.

My misses old mand lives on the clarence, this is his view (not bad on a clear day)

Favourite fish to eat would have to be eitehr a Pearl Perch or a Red Rock Cod.

Mind you i wouldnt call myself a fisherman, not because i dont have a rod, but because every second time i go out to see i end up sleeping on the floor and i get sick. But i make sure that we dont go in to shore until we have a descent catch.
This is my biggest fish i have caught, besides the shark i got. It was about 3kg i think

also got a couple of these parrots

There used to be descent muddy's in the clarence as well but not too many any more, water is too fresh

Last christmas pulled up in a boat beside a prawn trawler and got a bucket or cooked prawns and a bag of fresh prawns for a six pack of beer. Although i dont eat prawns, they went down well apparently. Took us about 3 hours to peel them all that night. We used the fresh prawns as bait in the river and pulled out about 30 cattys, in which we cut in half and threw back in for the birds.

We went to Kalbarri for a week last month good fishing there.
We caught a lot of Bream unfortunately not size but we mainly catch and release anyway.caught a mulloway off the jetty on my sons little rod with a small reel  and boy it took a lot to reel that in but it was undersized pretty happy tho it was the biggest fish I had caught and I beat the rest of the family lol.
We go fishing a lot during the warmer months mainly off the beach near Naval Base at the horse beach.
We catch Taylor,Herring,Skippy mainly the bloody crabs pinch your bait a lot there as well and we quite often hook them on our fishing lines.
It's not fun trying to fish when you have to constantly cast lines out for your kids tho.Need to teach miss 7 nearly 8 and Mr 4 how to cast on their own.

Being a territorian I really should go a lot more but I only usually go 2 or 3 times a year :(

Best barra was 82cms I think, caught that and heaps of thread fin salmon and catfish on the Victoria river when I was like 10

My Chumps

I'm a pretty casual fisher, go every now and then with the old man.

We either go out in the row boat for predominatley Bream (sometimes might get a salmon, luderik etc), or wade a stream for Trout. Caught this 48cm bad-boy the other week. Pretty happy with it  :)

Excuse me for looking like a stooge  :P

Windigo

Still haven't got a thing after countless trips to the lake. I was there for about three hours once and some random guy rocks up throws his line into the water and within like 5 minutes he had fish.  :'(

Colliwobblers

I am into fishing love it, prefer to do it from a boat on a reef, but i'll take it any way i can get it :)

Anyone fished for Bonito or Mackerel before?  Going to give North Mole in Freo a crack early next week.  Got tomorrow off so going tackle shopping, will prob get a few metal lures, some stick baits and balloons in case they aren't liking the  lures.  Any tips?  ;D

LF

Can you still get out to a decent point to fish off the mole?
I thought you couldn't really anymore
