As some of you know, I'm a DTer, not a SCer, and I've never played this game before. Nonetheless, I've taken a punt at making a SC team. Technically it is over the salary capy, but considering many of the rookies I picked were the most expensive first rounders (as I picked rooks by random) I figure it should be ok. ANyway, here it is. I've kept it pretty basic, as you'd probably expect seeing as this is my first try :P

Please though, feel free to tear it to shreds :P

and yeah, I know I went really heavy on the mids :P

Ziplock SC1 Fanplanner squad in the Super Coach competition coached by Zarts. Salary cap left: $-95,100.

Jarrad Redden, Eddie Prato

Lance Franklin, Nathan Fyfe, Nick Riewoldt, Jack Riewoldt, Jonathan Patton, Todd Elton, Jackson Paine

Welcome to SC Zip. I am considering whether to do DT for first time!!

Good Team for first up attempt. Interseting selection for Rookies.

Can you cope with the ups and downs of having both Roos.  With Hayes interested to see how he goes pre season before locking him in. With Broughton it will depend a lot whether Lyon uses hom as pure back or pushes him into the midfield.  Last year he suffered a lot as how he was used by Harvey. lake another interesting selection

As you now I am Brisbane supporter but one rookie worth having a look at is Zorko who we got during trade week especially if he is given a DPP.  He can play both forward or back and I expect will be Rookie priced in the $90k area.

Voldemort

I Think Nick Roo's time is up as a consistent premium in SC and DT

And you midfield is absolutely loaded  :D

yeah, broughts selection in both my dt and SC is dependent on where he'll be named naturally.

so, zorko is worth a look for a rook? I'll keep my eye out, thank ringo. Give DT a shot as well, it's so easy :P

I beleve that the Roos (in nicks cqse recqpture) and in jqcks cqse will find, true premium status. Jack was carrying injury allyear, and roo should be able to figure himself out... hopefully.. :P

thanks zip

FYI Info on Zorko contained in the analysis.  Clck on both his profile links in the article and you can see why I recommend as rookie.

Threw together a brand new team...
pretty similar to the old team, even though it was made completely independently :P

TEAM NAME: Ziplock SC2
DEF: B. Goddard, B. Gibbs, G. Broughton, H. Hartlett, P. Davis, M. Buntine, M. Talia (S. Frost, S. Docherty)
MID: S. Pendlebury, J. Selwood, J. Ziebell, T. Scully, C. Wingard, S. Coniglio (T. Mitchell, E. Kavanagh)
RUC: M. Kreuzer, H. McIntosh (J. Giles, J. Redden)
FWD: L. Franklin, T. Cloke, N. Riewoldt, J. Riewoldt, J. Brown, A. Christensen, J. Patton (T. Elton, A. Morabito)
CASH LEFT: $11,200

So, thoughts, criticisms, etc, fire away :P

I'd be rating everyone's SC teams... but I don't know the game well enough yet to give more than just bits of sporadic advice (unless I do a ridiculous amount of research) :P

Torpedo10

I would replace Hodge with Bartel as a risk move( It's not super risky but a little risky). N.Roo and Lake are absolute No Go's so I would NOT pick them in my team. Be wary of Broughton as he could play most of his time in the defence and we don't want a repeat of early last year. :(

Ill rate this team as its newer.

Defence- Would be nice for Hartlett to be (c/b), though it may not happen.  Even if it did, the kid has had a very poor run with injuries not just on his troublesome hamstring, and is definitely a risk at premium price.  Risks can turn out well though and I see upside, however it is something to think about.  Davis is cheap but will have a lot of responsibility as a key defender next season for a young lad.  Not really sure on him, though there aren't many else at his price.  Not sure Talia will play next year, see his brother.  And if m0nty's fanplanner prices come true, Frost and Docherty is an expensive bench.

Midfield- I've never been big on midfield pricers because even if they do well, which they probably will, they still probably won't average the 110+ that is required to be a premium sc midfielder.  Therefore you can pretty much count in two upgrades there, as well as your 2 rookies, 4 upgrades in the mids? Not my cup of tea.  Agian your blowing a fair amount on your bench.

Rucks- Not a huge fan to be honest.  I think Kreuzer is set for a big year, but I'm not sure if it will equate to SC points as he will spend a lot of time forward.  McIntosh is a worry too with Goldstein and Petrie having big 2011s.  Maric and West both better options IMO.

Forwards- As stated before, both Riewoldts is a worry, as is potentially Jono Brown is too.  Could also be worth noting that your first 5 forwards are all key = inconstistency.  Forget about Patton too IMO.  Big boys take time.

Overall a fairly unique and solid outfit.

I think for that team, in rookies I just picked the most expensive one since I didn't then (and still now) have little knowledge on them :P

thanks for the rate though :)

Backs: Goddard and Deledio both solid picks in SC, Broughts and Lake will depend on NAB to see roles/fform so i won't sway either way yet. Three starting rookies and Lake may be pushing things a bit too far though.

Midfield: You've spent loads of cash here all are solid plays however it may be worthwhile downgrading one to upgrade a back lien player.

Rucks: Good rucks although both will probably be spending more time forward than playing in the so may be a good idea to have either Kruezer in your forwards or change one of the two to a fulltime ruck.

Forwards: Franklin and Fyfe are both very good picks, the Riewoldts are a bit iffy especially with all Jacks surgery and we know what happened to Lake after his. Jon Patton and Todd elton both KPP players and they tend to take a while to be good fantasy players, and even though Patton has been hyped up teh same was sadi for Hawkins and Day. Again three starting rookies is a risk.

All up good first up effort Zip.  :)

Zip, i agree generally with MTTY's comments ...

looking at your SC2 team ...
i think i would generally comment that mid-pricers aren't going to do as well in SC as I perceive they do in DT ... can't remember who posted the comment Golddigger/Oss/other about SC scoring being skewed towards the top 3 players in the winning team ...

Patton now as the no1 draft pick has this extra price-premium lumped on him, so you may have to balance that against how good his form is leading up to rd1. I would agree to have Patton and Elton as rooks may be compunding your KPP risk a bit too much ... maybe change at least one for a C/F rook instead??
