Is the article saying Kelly and Wojo are captains? It isn't clear. I think Brad Green is probably best choice for captain, given his AFL experience, International experience and soccer back ground.

This is a very thin squad it must be said. Yes, I know they pick for the round game, but only 4 with previous round ball experience? Australia did very well last year, seems strange.

I can only assume the Magpies said they weren't interested. Swan won the Jim Stynes medal so I imagine he'd have been walk up start.

Perhaps players were more keen when there was a free trip to Ireland on the cards.

Smith is likely to get Fletch's gig between the posts.

Think they wanted some young guys to get a go at the game as they are the future. Suprised by like half of them but understandable for most of them.

Pearce Hanley from Brisbane named in the Irish Squad - Good recognition after a big improvement this season and he is currently leading the Lions Poll as most improved player ahead of Leuenberger

TheMailman

Fairly Certain that the obvious lack of experience will be detremental to the Aussie chances

Wasn't he in their squad last year (Think I remember him or some other AFL player with them besides Kennelly)?

Torpedo10

I think it's disappointing that the best players don't want to play for their Country. I'm sad Fletch isn't in the team :(

ossie85

Yeah it is sad :( Ablett, Pendles, Swan, Judd would be outstanding at this game

Wes Mantooth

Personally I don't get into the Irish series at all. Do you guys?

i love it, i think the international rules, would be my favourite sport if it was a real sport. Takes the best of afl and Gaelic and puts them together.
