and is too old
Not sure age means much in this instance.

Watson (lock) {And he's old too :P} [Skipper]
---
Marsh (If he pulls up)
Khawaja
Hussey (lock) {Might be old, but no point wasting his talent at 6, get him up the order}
Ferguson
Paine [wk]
Krejza/Lyon (Don't mind which)
Harris (Lock)
Copeland
Siddle (Still hasd alot of value in him)

I agree witht he reserves.

Also before anyone says why Warner, yes he has only had 16 FC innings, but he averages 59.66, and if after 30 innings he is still up there, then he could be in the mould of Hayden - A hard hitting leftie, who can dominate while still playing proper/ish shots.

PowerBug

Sorry to say this, but:
Warner = hack

we dont need experience we need guys who are playing well and finch is the best number 3 we have coming through that isnt on the wrong side of 30

experience matters the most, ok, you can blood some youths but you still need some wise heads if the situation gets out of hand. That's why CA is still keeping Ponting. He is the only player in the current squad to play in just about every country and against every opposition.

The Indian team is pretty old (test) but going good because they have a lot of cool heads in the team with the likes of Dravid, Tendulkar and Laxman yet they still have the youngsters coming through

Cicjose

yeah and we have no one coming through because we continue to play the players 30+

we would have had a good side by now had we overhauled the team 18 months ago

Voldemort

no one coming through?! Hughes, Marsh, Khawaja, Lyon, Copeland. I think that's a fair bit

Cicjose

no one wants hughes khawaja will not play in the next 12 months and we need more batters lyon and copeland have been tried but have not cemented their place....

until they cement their place they wont be seen as coming through the system

Voldemort

everyone that comes through the system wont get a place, or cement one. They need to show consistency meaning that they will get some games to show some, you cant just go out there with a team full of youths and hope for the best, other teams will eat you.

TheMailman

There are a crapload of players "coming through the system"

I think the main trouble is the selectors are yet to find a team that fits

They're just tossing players in and out of the team (yes sometimes to injury)

And so I feel the team just doesn't have enough experience playing together

You look at the ones who are always together and you get our best players in Pointing, Clarke and Watson, Harris etc.

well we have India, New Zealand and Sri Lanka coming to Australia this summer. we need to pick the best youngsters and get them experience at home in this series or our development system will be set back 10 years

Well, after all that, the test match was played, and finished, on the third day, SA only losing one wicket and getting home by 8 wickets.

Australia 284 & 47
South Africa 96 & 236/2 (50.2 ov)

Vernon Philander with MOM on debut.

elephants

Bow come they only lost the one wicket but were 2/236?

Was poor grammar by PB.

"Well, after all that, the test match was played and finished. On the third day SA lost only one wicket and got home by 8 wickets.

^ That's what PB was meant to say, but yes, he said it VERY confusingly.

love this article

"We're not kids," Clarke said as he sifted through the wreckage of Australia's fourth-lowest score in 134 years of Test cricket.

"We can't be baby-sitted. If you can't take responsibility for that, you shouldn't be in this team.

"I always say you've got to play your way. You train every day to become the player you are, and to get better but you've got to adapt to conditions.

"That's what international cricket is all about. You travel the world and play in different conditons.

"We managed to do that in Sri Lanka. We need to do that here. We obviously haven't done that.

"I've never had a day like that in my career. Hopefully I don't have too many more, either."

that was just plain embarrassing :-[
