1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1-1+1+1+1+1+1+1x0 = ?

Some of you may have seen this question floating around on facebook... It honestly shocked me that about 75% of people who answered this got it wrong. I asked my wife and sister this question, and they also got it wrong :( Which made me sadder, because they are both really good at mathematics :(

I will not rest and to each of you are convinced what the correct answer is!

It has been bugging me something chronic.

Pretty simple really. Just need to understand BODMAS ;)

In this case yes. However BODMAS isn't as clear cut as many people think. There are a great deal of syntax that isn't consistent and often maths curriculum pick a standard. It is too early for me to think of a simple example...

Haha that is true hawk. I think what people could have trouble with in this is in the middle where there is a minus 1, I almost missed it assuming it was just plus 1...

oops i voted 16 i didnt see the minus sign. I havent slept for about 22 hours i should get to that i have to get up in less than 3 hours.

Nothing wrong with picking 16, that is the trick part of it :)

Even when I went looking for it I had to spend a couple of minutes searching :o :-\

I answered 16, didnt even notice the minus, im 46 so along time out of school, bodmas would mean you do the multiplication part 1st, so doing that then adding and subtracting the rest i get 14, am i completely wrong, close or should i just go back to school.

Yes. It is 14 :) BODMAS

Quite happy that nobody has selected 0 yet (assuming they haven't cheated!). Clearly football supporters are smarter than the rest of the world

haha yes we are as long as its multiples of 1 or 6 and 9 (Nab Cup Lond Bomb)
