I actually dont mind both of them.  Ray would be another strong body to run through the midfield allowing Pav to go back to the forwardline.  I think Zac is highly criticised because he is only a 1 trick pony.  I like the idea of McPharlin, Grover, Silvagni and Dawson in the back 6 (along with 2 of Broughton, Suban, Duffman, Ibbo).

Freo have enough run in their backline to cover a player like Dawson, who would then be fine to play his customary defensive role

Think both would be good pickups for Freo, more so Ray.
Dawson could be very handy when McPharlin retires, as Freo would only have Silvagni and Faulks as tall defenders.
