Good first up attempt CS, one thing to say though I highly doubt Coniglio or Valenti will be given DPP.

Ringo

Not Bad Charlie.  Obviously pre season from will be a consideration.

As you and I had a fair few discussions last year my first up team.  Will change if Tippett remains at Adelaide though as I do not think the Walker/Tippett combo is good for FF. Also like you will be watching rookies pre season. Tippett may become Mitch Clark as I think I  need R/F as back up especially if he goes to Melbourne

Yeah, we've gone for completely different team structures.  I specifically chose proven premiums, whereas you have probably gone for guys with more "upside".

I think I am probably lacking 1 extra 200-300k player somewhere in the forwards or the backs.

My practical advice, is to have a contingency plan in case one of your mid pricers don't work out.

For example, instead of choosing Ziebell and D.Rich, simply pick one instead of both.

So pick D.Rich but have J.Ziebel as your contingency in Round ~3, if you don't like what your seeing.  This also makes logical sense, because J. Ziebel is suspended for the first 1-2 rounds or whatever.

You should apply this concept to other positions on the ground, which should effectively allow you to add 1-2 more proven premiums.

If you simply pick every single speculative mid pricers you think will be successful, you won't have someone to fall back to if it doesn't work out.

Mid pricers work, but you need to be really ruthless with trading, before it starts biting you in the ass.  The other problem is that if you don't nail your rookies, its going to probably hurt trade wise when make corrections for both entities.

Just somethings to think about mate.

Ziplock

Ziebell will be a really sneaky unique. Suspension means he won't play the first 2 (as you said), but unlike petrie last year, where people had extra bench and dpp to cover him, it will be harder this year. I reckon, purely for that reason, it might be a good idea to picked a named and highly rated rook round 1 who is playing two easy teams first two round, to field him over Ziebell, who then comes in round 3 for the squad.

Thoughts?

One thought I had regarding mid pricers is you can take the risk and pick a few of them, and the one/s that don't work out you can trade to gun rookies that you missed. This gives you cash plus the gun rookie you missed. If you have two mid pricers that don't make the grade one can be downgraded and the other upgraded.

Ziplock, I think that is the best option for those who was Ziebell. I think the only alternative is to take an extra rookie and upgrade one of the rookies round 5 to Ziebell, or later if Ziebell has a stinker in one of his first two games back.

Would like to make room for Ziebell if he gets a full pre season however I am wary of players who don't play 20 plus games a year. By not considering this highly enough last season I had a lot of $$$ sitting on my bench at times..

Ringo

Thanks CS. Was looking at that contingency as a Strategy. (Disguised with my Walker/Tippet comment). Ziebell may be Conglio or Wingard for example depending on pre season.  With only 2 bench this year and sub rule still in place attempted to find more uniques.

Not sure what price he will be CS but I suspect Rookie price seeing he was traded to Lions from Gold Coast from the Recruiting area.  He is mature aged (22) and has spent a lot of time this year getting fit for a final assault on the AFL.  According to his Broadbeach coach he got lazy and as a result fitness suffered and did not get picked up in previous drafts.

Have attached this link as well for more info on Zorko and commentary on Lions Trade by recruiting manager Rob Kerr

If he is given a DPP definite lock (He can play back or forward).  This may allow Banfield to play up the ground more as a crumbing forward.  I was hoping to keep this to myself so now its out may as well share.

No point being discreet, everything will be out in the preseason anyway.  For example, mzungu, i.smith, lower, stanley, harris, heppel, darling, tapscott, etc...  were no secret.  If there was a differential it was probably going to come from Curnow or some mid pricer like fyfe or not getting any Saints players.

Also, you can still flower up you team structure, and people will always buy into the hype of those over priced draftees in the top 10.

Another one to look for is A. Saad.  Very high scoring potential.  Can see him stealing quite a few 'first goals' for the Saints, and taking some away from Milney.

9 rookies on the field is a bit much...
However you have good idea's  :)

I actually have cash for probably 1-2 premiums.  But it was very hard to do seeing none of my rookies were actually in fan planner.

Ringo

Agree CS until we see the price of rookies not yet in FP we are at a bit of stalemate. My FP team will change once I see Zorkos value, especially if he gets mid/fwd DPP, to name one.

just updated - see above.

Tried to guesstimate some of these rookie prices.  For budget, I put Sandilands & Leuy for the rucks, and filled the rest with mostly random 100-120k rookies.

Hmm, dunno how I'm going to fit in Murphy, Judd & Selwood, I feel they are just as equally important premiums.

I think Fasolo will end up playing a lot of games, I just have no idea how its going to impact Didak if at all.

your midfield is absolutely stacked! Swan and Pendles in the same team could be dangerous? They are usually rested during matches (v. weaker sides), meaning lower scores on the odd days. I dont really know much about your backline rookies, but some obviously research has gone into this team and it's looking pretty good  ;)
