Just starting a thread where we can comment on our Lions trades as they happen.

Trade with Clark to Melbourne for Pick 12

Jordan Lisle to Brisbane for Pick 29 Good coverage for Stakers 12 month injury.  Like this trade

As expected Ben Hudson from Bulldogs for Pick 70.
Obviusly to be used as Ruck back up following Clarks departure

Dayne Zorko and Pick 47 from Gold Coast Suns.
Zorko is a rover and Broadbeach Captain in NEAFL and was selcted by GC as a Priority Zonal Pick and subsequently traded to Brisbane as part of the WarnockTrade to GC.
Extract about Zorko:
The former State U18 and U12 Captain has been considered unlucky not to have been previously drafted considering his natural ability to play both in the midfield and up forward.
His nous in front of goals was never more evident than in 2010 when he lined up at full-forward against the Western Magpies and booted a career-best 12 goals in one of his more stellar individual efforts.

Pick 69 for Luke Power.

Suspect that is all for us.  Comments welcome.  Overall I think we come out pretty well  retaining 3 picks in the top 30 and gaining Lisle and Hudson to reinforce our stocks.

Should leave our Initial Draft Picks as 8, 12 , 30 47 and 69 so extremely happy to retain 8 & 12.

Please feel free now to comment on our overall draft successes or otherwise.

I think the Lions did pretty well!

Still question the value of Hudson. Not like the Lions are going to win a flag this year. Good result for Clark given he was guaranteed to leave.

Ringo

Suspect we may re draft one if not both of McAuley and McCullough in later rounds as further ruck reinforcements.

IMO Clark had to take the best Option available or risk ending up at GWS via the Draft if he entered and we had to get a reasonabl;e return for him as well.

Shows how little you know about AFL Oss  ;D

I like the trade week, a good productive trade week, these trades should just make us a sure thing for the premiership.

Yo anser you Cic

and from the article.
"We needed to find someone who could provide immediate support for Matthew Leuenberger and, at the same time, we want to be able to ensure that in the years ahead there is room for a young ruckman. Ben seemed to fit that bill perfectly."
"He has had significant experience at AFL level, is a natural competitor and widely regarded as a quality person."
"At 32 years old, Ben's body is still in good shape which could be a result of the fact he was a relatively late bloomer who never started playing AFL until he was 25.”

Hopefully the Lions don't stop Port from winning the spoon next season  ;)

Official comments on our trades.  Really like the look of Zorko could allow Banfield to play further up the ground as a small forward.
Lisle will more than likely take Stakers position and Hudson will play as an additional tall forward.

I too am confident of our chances this year if all players stay healthy. Have seen some odds of 20/1 about making top 8 which looks juicy.

40/1 I'd put 200 on... You'd definitely be paying out. We won most of our games where J Brown was fit... we lost to dockers by 2 points in rd 1 after having only 1 player on bench for last quarter and a half...

If J Brown can stay fit Lions will make the 8. Especially if we can pick up some gems with picks 8 and 12.

Beat me to him nails. - I would back our best 22 against most teams in the comp and as you say if we can get some gems with pick 8 & 12 we will improve further. I can see Rich having a good year as teams will now also tag Rocky after his stellar year and not forgetting the ever reliable Black. (Can not believe we are still arguing terms for him)

Your list is still worse than a good deal of teams that didn't even make the 8 last season. Doubt you guys will get out of the bottom 4-6 let alone make top 8.

Ready to be proven wrong though.
