Be interested to know how many have been drawn by the star factor, particularly those new to A League.

Personally, opening the season without both until I can gauge form and see how Socceroos committments will impact on the season. Great to have them both back though, no way the AL was getting big column inches in Melbourne during AFL finals previously, but a story once a day now.

Emerton, and to a different degree Kewell, will earn their money this year. Just as the AFL effectively used Falou & Hunt to get a leg up in the northern states, the FFA can use Harry & Emmo as a battering ram not only against the summer sports, but the AFL/NRL giants they will face during AL finals, which will compete with the 2 winter staples for the first time.

I went with the likely-to-be-more-unique player in Emerton

CrowsFan

If I had to pick one I would go Kewell, but starting with neither. Don't know why anyone would pick Emerton over Kewell since they are the same price! Emerton has never been a goal scorer or assist maker

Master Q

I don't do A-League fantasy but both would be good options... Although I hate Harry Kewell. Cannot stand him!

BlueStorm

Considering both are $300k, I would have thought Broich to be better value than both if you are splurging in the midfield.

Yes, I agree Kewell SHOULD, in his positional role, score more points than Emmo. I guess that is where Emmo's durability comes in. I would be staggered if he misses more than one match all season with injury (doesn't incl games missed with Socceroos duty). By all reports, he is one of the fittest Aussie sports stars ever measured at the AIS - Kewell on the other hand risks missing three weeks for a broken eyelash  :P

Voldemort

do prices change in A-league fantasy like DreamTeam and Super Coach?

BlueStorm

Course they do, that's half the fun! It seems the A League price changes are the same as EPL fantasy, based on a player's popularity, rather than actual performance. You can have a star point of difference knocking up points each week with little value rising, but rest assured, you will pass all those sheep on the highway who have all jumped on board a sinking ship popular pick that earned them an extra 30k  ;)

e.g. Harry Kewell?  ;D Everyone knows he's only play for the cash

Disagree. He's playing because he isn't a great soccer player and can't get games anywhere better than here..

It's true  ???

Its because he is old which reflects on what Q said. He is old and injury prone and no top flight teams want that kind of player

My Chumps

I think what Harry's done is fantastic.
Was a very good footballer in his time, but now he realises his time in top flight football is over, so he's come back here to give something back to Australian football.
I hope all Aussies in the future do a similiar thing.
Aloisi did it, Skoko, and now Harry and Emma. Imagine if Tim Cahill came to the A-League in 3 years time. Or Schwazer. It'd be a similiar thing.
It's one of the biggest things to ever happen in Australian football and will no doubt draw more peoples interest in the game.
So get off his case :P
