GWS fitness coach John Quinn has his work cut out to get Luke Power, James McDonald and - if rumours are on the money - Dean Brogan and Chad Cornes playing more than a handful of games together in 2012.

GWS: Greater Wester Sydney or Geriatrics, Ward and Scully?

lol, that's a good one.

we'll see though I guess :P

I think it's not bad bringing in Power, Brogan and Cornes who played this season so aren't out of Fitness. McDonald is 35 I think but he's still playing local footy (if memory is right) so his fitness is still there (Pulling a Fletcher :P). It's be hard to get them to play the entire season like you said though but a few games should be manageable with a young (and oversized) squad.

They only need to play 10 games to achieve their purpose. Essentially they are playing coaches, some of whom will be assistant coaches full time the following year.

I agree.  They are there just to give a chop out to the young guys.  10 - 12 games each would be about right you would think.

One would assume Brisbane have to be compensated for Power in the same light, Will be interesting what is offered,

I disagree with port getting compensation for retired players, but anything that takes power away from GWS im happy.

Correct there ^^^ So now it's up to Brisbane to do their thing. Also means (I Think) that next year we are protected by not losing any players. >> (Uncontracted)

Thats the way I understand it as well, which is why Port was pushing for it.

eh, I don't think it's quite right... I understand that they have to do this,as it falls under the rules, but it's one thing if cornes and brogan had talked with gws and then retired, but to me it looks like they've retired, then been approached. Hell, cornes was like thrown into retirement. I don't see why port should be getting compo for that.

I mean, if Pendles had suddenly 'retired' then gone to gws, fair enough...

I remember Brisbane jumping up and down when Mal Michael retired, only to sign on with Essendon.
