flower!

I'm not gonna complain cos it's gonna be a long list. Mainly featuring Shoenmakers.
that wasn't good but if free kicks were anything close to 50/50 spread, Pies would not have been within striking distance ... it just pisses me off how free kicks paid against Hawthorn weren't given when Collingwood players did the exact same thing and then the free kicks against led to directly influencing goals that determined the outcome of the game ...

if the whistle had been put away i would predict a totally different outcome ...   >:(

if the whistle had been put away, the feral collingwood supporters probably would have rushed the field and shanked the entire hawthorn team :P

We just can't win first of all playing Shoenmakers and secondly missing all those relatively easy set shots early in the game.

We lost ourselves the game, Collingwood didn't win it.

i'm not saying Hawks didn't take their chances ... but it just showers me when bad umpiring decisions (esp in 4th quarter) influence an outcome ...

case in point, WCE vs Carlton - umpires put the whistle away and consensus opinion that no-one was robbed ... (even Blues fans wouldn't claim that Carlton was robbed by the umpires ... isn't that right Marcz/CFC/Q??  ;))

2 large cokes

to be honest thought schoenmakers held his own. I no Dawes kicked 3 but he didn't hurt the hawks much at al besides that. the umpiring is always gonna be a talking point when they pay a ridiculous 54. the count was fairly even. what upsets me a bit is alot of frees for the pies (atleast 3-5) gave them goals whereas alot of hawthorns were fairly meaningless. subbing of whitecross really hurt us I reckon was playing an important role and I think it was a mistake by clarko. would have much rathered Bateman be subbed for his constant bloody turnovers.

I'm not gonna sit and complain though because I'm very happy with the effort put in by the hawks. made a lot of the pies players look slow and weak at times which is bloody hard to do. players like beams, sidebottom, krakour, blair, wellingham will have a nervous wait with fasolo bearing down on them for a spot next week. I have always rated Dane swan but tonight showed he Is just as good as gaj and judd. was unstoppable at stages tonight and really won them the game I thought (along with cloke).

Being a Swans supporter, apart from a general dislike of the Pies, i'd have to say Hawthorn were robbed.

I would conservatively estimate that 70-80% of the 50/50 free kick calls went against Hawthorn in that last quarter and at least 2-3 resulted in Collingwood goals.

it really makes me think that there is an AFL conspiracy to give Collingwood an easy ride being a 'cash cow' for the AFL.
that or Eddie pays a stipend to all the AFL umpires for favourable calls!  ;)

as BP's pic says ... "It's a conspiracy!"

Absolute crap, check the frees paid in the Hawks forward line in the first quarter, then come back to me....The bootom line is that Hawks kicked themselves out of a GF with all those misses from set shots within 30m....

Leigh Brown was best on with his two goals in the last qtr ::)

Another easy win by the pies.... ;)

Geez, I never knew cruising a canal in Amsterdam waiting for updates on a mobile phone could be so stressful.

TBH, from a neutral perspective, you can't put the blame on Shoenmakers. If actuallyw played his best game this final series. Do you blame the poor kicking early in the game? Hodge missed a sitter early in the game, but I don't hear people whining re him...

I just hope the game next weekend is not controlled by the umpiring as this game was. The decisions in the last quarter on Gibson and Hodge turned the game IMO. After that, everything flowed Collingwood's way.

For me, the Pies didn't win the game, the Hawks with a little assistance from the ump's lost the game.

Very good Summary Fletch from another Neutral Supporter.  Both the last quarter decisions not being paid were crucial.  let us hope that the next finals games todays and tomorrows are not over umpired (56 free kicks overall last night to many for a finals game.)

I have to agree there. Umpires are trying to make it all about themselves I reckon, making the most of their time in the sun. Just let the game flow, please!

Umpiring was disgustingly bad all night.
So many soft calls... mainly against Hawthorn.
I also felt hawks were robbed by umps, eg. Hodge gets tackled high at a critical moment near goal, when umps were paying 2 high for everything such as pendles on the wing when he ducked into it the sook.  :P

People can say what they want, but "umpies" kept collingwood in it when otherwise they would have been out of reach.

North Melbournes Finest

Like I said in another thread:

- Luke Hodge not getting a free kick for high contact (It wasn't necessarily high IMO, but they pay that 9/10 times every game)
- Puopolo getting pinged for holding the ball when he didn't dive on it, and was obviously trying to dispose of it
- Leigh Brown clearly holding on the goal line
- Chris Dawes I think was holding on the goal line for the Luke Ball goal
- Didn't see a replay of the Rioli holding the ball, but apparently he might of handballed it, looked holding the ball to me

Also on a side note, the first 3 quarters of the game we're umpired horriffically for both teams, I hate how umpires think they're playing the game and the amount of free kicks they give away is like points for them, and they nearly won the game based on the amount of frees they gave away (54)  :o

Can anyone please enlighten me on the Nick Maxwell downfield free kick down field!!!!! He was trying to sheppard someone off the ball and got bumped over and it was a downfield free kick wtf! Then the same thing happened to a Hawthorn player and they got a free kick but it wasn't downfield.

Anyway enough of the umpires, they were a big part of the game, but both teams played valiantly. I just though Hawks played better and probably missed a few goals they should of kicked and it's come back to haunt them now.

Hi there

I've read alot of the threads here and once again Hawthorn people are blaming the umps. That's a poor excuse. Why not blame your poor kicking in front of goal again or your inability to put the Pies away during the second and third quarters where you dominated the play or your pathectic last quater
I have no sympathy for you.
The good teams always seem to get up and win when you think all is lost.

Most of us that are posting aren't even hawks supporters!
And I presume you are collingwood?
