8-6 Suited

I was going too, but instead having a gathering for a BBQ and a few beers (read: a keg) with the Footy on the projector.

MajorLazer

That's nearly as good Shaggy.

Last final I went to was 08 prelim against the Saints and we all know what happened that year. ;)

I'm very stressed about this game, and will be spending a lot of money getting updates as I go through Germany to Holland! My poor phone bill.

But a nice stat which I pretty sure is unprecedented in Collingwood history. If teams named as expected, there will be 11 All-Australian players in the Collingwood line up.

Luke Ball (2007)
Travis Cloke (2011)
Leon Davis (2009, 2011)
Alan Didak (2006, 2010)
Nick Maxwell (2009)
Harry O'Brien (2010)
Scott Pendlebury (2010, 2011)
Ben Reid (2011)
Dane Swan (2009, 2010, 2011)
Chris Tarrant (2003)
Dale Thomas (2011)

With Heath Shaw and Darren Jolly among those not All-Aus!

Against Hawthorn's 4 (which seems very low)

Shaun Burgoyne (2006)
Lance Franklin (2008, 2010, 2011)
Luke Hodge (2005, 2008, 2010)
Sam Mitchell (2011)

But geez, I've very, very wary of this match
Cant believe Maxwell has been an All-Aus  ::)

I would be to oss. The hawks are the LAST team I would want to play in a knock out final, especially a pre-lim. It will be like 2 ferrel cats fighting in a back alley. it should be beautiful ;D
Might sound silly, but Which team would you want to play in the GF bunyip, as your a Cats fan?
Honestly, I don't care. Both teams will be a nightmare in a GF. The cats are in good form, so, if we get past WC on Saturday (nothing is certain) we SHOULD give a good account of ourselves. Geelong are strong all over the ground, and, are as mentally tough as any side I have ever seen. I promise you, I'll be as nervous as anyone Saturday.
Collingwood will be the hardest to beat. They are deserved favs, but the other 3 teams arn't that far behind.

I'm going tomorrow night. ;D

Anyone else?
Lucky barbie! I couldn't get tickets, but instead going to the Geelong vs Eagles game. Am in about Row Q level 4 or something but just going to get the atmosphere of a prelim final!

hawk_88

Couldn't get tickets this year (the one year I don't buy a membership....). I do have an in at Hawthorn that got me a GF ticket in 2008. I figure I will take the risk and bet on us making the GF and plead for a ticket then. Couldn't really ask twice.

Now... my Dad found out this arvo that he is being wooed for business in a corporate box for the GF.... the envy I fell right now, lucky barbie!

PowerBug

Well, you could go to the GF anyway, ask for a ticket now. If the Hawks make it what a bonus that is!

I wish i was in Melbourne now, coz i only go to about 2-3 games each year. I can lay claim to watching the new NAB Cup before all of you though. :)

I'll be streaming commentary from here in Paris.

Who you play and when means little in the finals, basically the top 4 teams have to beat the other 3 to win the flag and none are easy. I'm hopeful but not necessarily confident. It's rare one goes into a prelim confident.

When clubs are competing they get a greater allocation (this doesn't include member's allocation) than they otherwise get. I can almost guarantee they won't have any GF tickets free until the extra allocation from making the GF.

Being a Swans supporter, apart from a general dislike of the Pies, i'd have to say Hawthorn were robbed.

I would conservatively estimate that 70-80% of the 50/50 free kick calls went against Hawthorn in that last quarter and at least 2-3 resulted in Collingwood goals.

it really makes me think that there is an AFL conspiracy to give Collingwood an easy ride being a 'cash cow' for the AFL.
that or Eddie pays a stipend to all the AFL umpires for favourable calls!  ;)

as BP's pic says ... "It's a conspiracy!"

j959

i can't get over how bad those umpiring calls in pretty much the whole 4th quarter were against Hawthorn in Collingwood's favour ... and I'm a Swans supporter!!!  :o

MajorLazer

flower!

I'm not gonna complain cos it's gonna be a long list. Mainly featuring Shoenmakers.

that wasn't good but if free kicks were anything close to 50/50 spread, Pies would not have been within striking distance ... it just pisses me off how free kicks paid against Hawthorn weren't given when Collingwood players did the exact same thing and then the free kicks against led to directly influencing goals that determined the outcome of the game ...

if the whistle had been put away i would predict a totally different outcome ...   >:(

MajorLazer

Tbh I thought the umpires were pretty even, but I guess it's different being there than on tv.
