First up - I feel really bad for Mark Harvey, especially the way the media treated him at the airport this morning.  Champion bloke - absolutely no-one is questioning that.

Everyone always hangs shower on Freo for being soft, not winning, not playing finals, Pav would be a champion if he was in Vic.  We finally do something and you still gotta hang shower on it.  Time for Freo to take a stance.  Ross Lyon has been to the dance and knows what it takes to get there.  Freo have never been there (yeh yeh, 2003, 2006 and 2010).

The club is sick of it and have need to do something different as what we are doing isnt working.  Everyone talks up the Freo youngsters, everyone knows the amazing amount of potential (Fyfe [39], Hill [67], Morabito [23], Barlow [22], Clarke [21], Silvigni [24], Ballantyne [44], Broughton [53], Mayne [58], Mzungu [14], Mundy [142] (is only 26)...... Pav, Sandi, McPharlin the seasoned veterans.

At the end of the day what can I do about what happened... 2 things.  Stop supporting the club or look for the positives and moving forward.

Well, doing the first one would be disloyal, so obviously number 2.

I know, i barrack for Port ;)

roo boys!

Freo have a bright future. Look for all the positives valk and imagine tasting that ultimate success one day. All you can do.

Don't be sorry Valk Keep supporting them and look at the positives from the season and there are a number if you look at your season.  I probably know better than most in that I have been supporting Brisbane (Including the Bad news Bears for those old enough to remember, we only merged with Fitzroy in 1996 for the 1997 season) since their entry into the AFL in 1987. Although at times I wondered whether to swap clubs stayed loyal and eventually saw reward with our three premierships and we will get there again.

Agree with Roo Boys your future is bright and if you get Mitch Clark he will add to your future.  He has played 82 games so is in that mid range area and only aged 24. Lions recruited him from East Freemantle so in effect he will be going home.

No need to apologize at all Valk thats the nature of the beast...

Carlton have done many a thing that doesnt sit right with me, but id never walk away or turn my back on my club ;)

Its a bold move that comes with expectation, the stats they quoted need to be put in perspective tho as he inherited a finals team at St Kilda and now he inherits a finals team at Freo so his stats r always going to look favorable, most sides sack their coach bcos they r cactus and the incoming coach needs to regenerate eg Ratten taking over for Pagan the first year a write off that side was a mess, last three years probably the equal if not better win percentage than 63%...

Lyon's biggest flaw will be compensated by the work Harvey and the club have already done with getting games into the young brigade and now Lyon can implement his stingy defensive game plan and he has perhaps even more depth than what he started with at the Saints so i certainly expect Freo to be a top 4 contender over the next couple of years...

Sacking the coach is the opposite of doing something different valk. Poor management from the admin is the exact reason Fremantle have underachieved since their introduction to the afl.
Was the complete wrong decision and they should have stuck by Harvs 100% instead of ratting him out and turfing him like they did to Connolly, and all other Freo coaches before him.

Of course you have to stick by your club valk, but unfortunately in my opinion this type of administration says to me that Freo fans can expect more of the same lackluster results in years to come.

I will defend the Connolly/Schwab sacking by one phrase... "look at Melbourne now - glad we got rid of them"

Thats a very fair call, defiently the right move getting rid of those two

the decision will invaribly looked at in hindsight ... if Freo do well next year, it will be a genius move, if they falter it will be an ill-fated excursion ...

i don't mind that they moved the coach on (though i disagree with the decision), i just don't agree with the back-stabbing nature of how they did it - he did not deserve it. Hope he gets another opportunity if he wants one ...

I think everyone agrees that Harvey was harshly treated but the club obviously thought we needed a new direction and that Ross is the man for the job.
