Rooster  There are no split rounds/double games this year

Hey BS, is there a bug in the listed fixtures for rnd 9 ?

Round 9
Adelaide United  -  Central Coast Mariners 2 Dec 20:00
Newcastle Jets  -  Melbourne Victory 3 Dec 19:45
Perth Glory  -  Gold Coast United 3 Dec 22:00
Melbourne Heart  -  Wellington Phoenix 4 Dec 15:00
Sydney FC  -  Brisbane Roar 4 Dec 17:00
Sydney FC  -  Perth Glory 7 Dec 19:30

If this is correct then it mght be worth getting a Sydney FC or Perth Glory player in this week with my one trade (Williams is on my chopping block) and most certainly I will be putting the (c) on Smeltz.

Scored 61 this week (with a -6 hit), Broich Captain.

BlueStorm

Nice work Luigi, it proved a masterstroke  ;)

OK, a few things to be aware of for this week:

1. Double Madness Returns! Don't ask me why, but for the next 2 game rounds, two teams each week will have two games to accumulate points for your team.

This week, Sydney host Roar (in Kogarah, a few country venues being used for this round), before hosting Perth. The Glory will have hosted Gold Coast a few days earlier. I know it is madness to look at a non Roar Cpatain choice (even though Archie saluted nicely this week  ;D), but Carle or Smeltz should be seriously considered.

Next round, Wellington & Roar have the double. Now, is it worth trading to follow this news? I can't see myself trading for any Syd or Perth players this week. I already have 4 Roar players. Maybe Sanchez again if he gets fit. I guess this really is most important when selecting a captain, but if you have the choice between two options, handy to know.

I haven't scrolled through the whole season, but after these 2 double rounds, the next 3 rounds all have the standard 5 games. Obviously the other teams will have the catch up at some stage, but it won't be a messy as last year - having to allow for regular byes and doubles.

2. Olyroos Returning - Hoorah! (I hear you say...) BUT, the flipside is some of the bargain buys we have been relying on lately (like Germano, Hingert etc) could lose their spots, so keep an keen eye on team selections this week - for what they are worth... Nakajima-Farran will be hard to displace after his effort last week, but I wouldn't call him a season lock yet.

3. Vidosic - News is he will miss 2-3 after coming off 30min into their game last week. Many of you will have Nichols back to cover him, but I would consider trading him. With the double games coming up, you can grab a decent 2 game player, rather than have him rot on the bench. (I don't own him...)

4. Amini looks a good buy. Only $120, played 70min last week. A little rusty, but they are grooming him to be the playmaker in the only team seriously chasing Roar.

BlueStorm

Dead right Rooster (you posted as I will still typing  ;))

Dump Williams. Not sure what your bank is like, Simon is looking good for those avoiding the stock standard Berisha-Archie-Smeltz line up. Maybe a mind downgrade to Amini to free up the coin?

BlueStorm

Just watched A League highlights show. Vidosic with 'back fractures, so he will be out for some time' says Simon Hill. Trade him...

BlueStorm

Hoorah! We're back baby!!!

Here is what the FFA terms 'squads', and with good reason - by my rough count, there will be 22 of the players named that will not even make the bench, let alone start. Ridiculous  >:(

http://www.foxsports.com.au/football/a-league/all-the-squads-for-round-nine-of-the-2011-2012-a-league-season-this-weekend/story-e6frf4gl-1226211468398

Will be online for the next hour or so, and most of tomorrow during the day if you have any q's. Some smart moves over the next 2 weeks will really give you a leg up on those not-in-the-know  ;)

I know they both have doubles this week, but I am not trading in any Syd or Perth players (not trading at all in fact). Already have Antonis, Bosschaart & Carle + Smeltz - who shall once again be trusted as El Capitano. Don't let me down! Fully prepared for Antonis not to play all of both matches - at his price, no complaints.

Be interesting to see how Sanchez pulls up this week after being named. If he gets through unscathed, be prepared to buy him Monday morning as his price should climb steadily during the week.

Germano a better chance of good game time following Shroj's suspension for an off the ball incidence. Still using him as 1st bench option, but see him playing at least 60 now, even with Dugandzic and Hoffman returning.

BlueStorm

One last thing - a word of warning to Fabio owners.

I was down getting some liquid refreshments when he went down on Sunday - when I returned, all my mates were quick to say 'done for the season'. I know he went for scans early in the week, but have heard no news since. Yes, he has been named in the squad, but 4 are still to come out. Despite a threadbare defence with both Vargas & Foschini suspended, I can't see how Victory will risk him for this week. Not saying trade him, just be prepared for him not to score you anything this week.

McRooster

Williams > McAllister leaves 33k in the kitty.

I wanted to keep a three prong fwd set-up (hence a small coin grab for the in-form McAllister) and have decided on what would have been unthinkable last season - benching Rose this week  :o

Team will line up like this....bolded players play twice

Covic
Hamill, Franjic, Antonis
McGlinchey, Nkajima, Broich, Brown
Smeltz (c), McAllister, Berisha

Tyson, Rose, Tattslotto, Zadkovich

Luigi197

A Thompson, Berisha, Broich, McGlinchey, Simon or Bosschart for Captain?

Also will Sanchez play you reckon?

BlueStorm

Brave move Rooster - McAllister has not played many full games, pinched a goal with a penalty last week and GC face another tough struggle on the road. Hope it works out for you.

Luigi - Is Bosschaart the only double you have this week? Hard to make him Captain when one of the games is v Roar. If so, reckon you are really down to flipping a coin between Archie, Berisha & Broich.
I suspect Sanchez will come off the bench this week, particularly now they have Ifill back in the line up. Prob after 60min, so only a point (+ any possible score involvements) for him this week. Next week is when he should prove good value with their double round.

Luigi197

BlueStorm

I wasn't going to steer you to him, but you found your way there  ;) If Victory score, you can be sure Archie is involved.

BlueStorm

Well this will screw some planning this week, the game tonight has been cancelled:

Works well for me, have Hamill (6 points) & Germano (3 points) come in to cover Antonis & Broich - Woohoo!

Heard the FFA say last night they are trying to play the game next Wednesday (after Wellington game), so there could be some big socres next week with 4 teams having doubles. We should know before lockout this week when they game has been moved to and plan accordingly.

Amini is certainly ripe to pick now & Sanchez did enough last week to make him a 'must buy' for this round.

Looks like Antonis (and Bridge) will miss this week's game v Gold Coast.

http://www.foxsports.com.au/football/a-league/sydney-fc-coach-vitezslav-lavicka-says-perth-glory-postponement-could-be-blessing-in-disguise/story-e6frf4gl-1226216578338

I am rolling the dice and trading out Antonis now before his price plummets. Nakajima-Farran, while looking tasty at his price and looking at 2 games this round, should be avoided. I am dumping him too, suspect his starting spot will disappear with both Nichols and Broich available this week. Has really only excelled in the absence of one of them (due to Olyroos & injury).

Still no update on when the Syd-Perth game will be reschulded, but the FFA are keen to have it as soon as possible.

Anyone following Fantasy HAL might have seen on the twitter feed Capt Fantasy mentioning 3 midweek games next week. This is wrong. At worst, Bris & Well will play 2 next round. At best, add Syd-Perth. That is all...

BlueStorm

OK, a few things on my mind.

1. Were did everyone go? We used to have a vibrant chat here, but since the forum issues of last week, it's like a ghost town in here! Just hope some of you are at least reading the posts and taking advantage.

2. Thursday night. 4 days since a game played. YET WE ARE STILL IN LOCKOUT!!! Seriously guys, get it together - close off the round and move on. Just when I was starting to think the Fantasy site has got it's showere together, now this...

3. Nearly 7pm, and no teams announced. I know they are barely worth the pixels they are written with, but would be handy to at least have a guide before jumping into the trade market.

4. Broich is far from a certain starter on Friday night, though I suspect he will be right for their midweek game next week.

http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/news-display/Broich-unlikely-for-Roar/43416

That means Nakajima-Farran looks a likely starter for at least their 1st game when you see the other injuries (Henrique & Meyer). Makes certanties like the backmen, Nichols & Berisha the priority for those who don't have them.
