2nd in Tassie now and like 130 overall I'm pretty sure.

BlueStorm

Sorry for the radio silence, I have been sulking... :'(

My average score of 49 saw me lose a lot of ground, but to compound my woes, my arch enemy pulled out his wildcard, hit on winner after winner (Antonis, Nichols, Berisha, Vidosic & VD were all new inclusions) and scored 2nd best for the round with 76. My 7 point lead has turned to a 20 point deficeit. His friend also used his wildcard to jump me, and I am thinking it's probably a damn good idea.

I was thinking of saving mine until the Olyroos started jetting out, but with some planning, we should be able to assemble a squad to cover those absences. In picking the Popular Picks (the value of a player is based purely on his popularity, performance has nothing to do with it), you will also have a lot more to spend on their replacements. This year seems to be a little unique in that there are so many clear standouts to have (Slory, Antonis, Smeltz, Broich, Covic et al) that you will miss the boat price-wise if you don't grab them soon.

Not saying you have to do it now, but recommend it for those with teams missing the form picks

My changes (and still tinkering with options  :P):

Newcomers - (Replacing)
Antonis - (Hamill)
Van den Brink - (Rose)
Carle - (Miller)
Dugandzic - (Pelligrino)
Sanchez/Amini - (Abbas)
Berisha - (Williams)
Brockie - (Archie)  This one really hurts, but have to go with the head over the heart. If you ain't banging them in, get out...

Pelligrino was my biggest let down. After seeing him smash some goals for Glory, I thought he'd revel in the Mariners set-up as playmaker. Fallen way short of what some had hoped for, and with Amini a possible starter this week (he played 60 in the reserves last week), his time will get cut drastically. Hold on Amini for a week or two to make sure he is back to fitness before wasting a trade.

Luigi - Sorry, I had a feeling that Rose would break through last week. Very disappointed, and won't keep that value in the backline without some promise. I am not only benching the barbie, I'm off-loading him... (Mind you, Mullen didn't offer much as an alternative)

BTW, congrats to CrowsFan, Barlow & MTTY for impressive efforts  ;D We have our league ranked 9th overall, top work guys. We shall not settle for being Richmond (sorry Tiges fans), let's continue to surge!

BS, cheers, well done to you too.

Thoughts on my team for the moment.

Covic

Rose, Antonis, Van den Brink

Andrezinho, Broich, Slory, Meyer, Vidosic

Smeltz, Van Dijk

Tyson, Rozic, Good, Minniecon

Could use my wildcard and get some value in

Rose ----> Jurman
Good ------> Susak
Meyer -----> Nakajima-Farran
Minniecon -----> Berisha

I've got 2 issues.

Mullen - not starting
Simon - seems to want to play for Victory, Just Not Scoring!!!

Simon starts, but Mullen is usually benched, so i guess Simon is my number one priority?
But then i gotta consider things like i do for SC. You picked them cause they are premium, so stick with them, as they are premiums, and should do you well in the long run.
But i am losing my patience, as CCM are doing porely, and is my A-League team.

Help?

First, my rant! How do the FFA let clubs make a mockery of team selections as they do currently.
http://www.foxsports.com.au/football/a-league/all-the-squads-for-round-four-of-the-2011-2012-a-league-season-this-weekend/story-e6frf4gl-1226178499130

Saturday afternoon, Central Coast have named a squad with 4 to be cut, Perth are even worse with 5 (If Perth ever name Pantelidis in a match day team, the slide will start rapidly). Even tomorrow night's squads for the Roar v Reds clash include 2 to be ommitted.

The errors are even more annoying -  I am willing to bet Amini is less than 2 weeks away, particularly after his run with the 2nds last week. Phoenix lost Muscat, promoted Downey, and reckon they are ommitting one more - obviously playing a man short this week  ??? But no, Brown not listed as an inclusion for Phoenix despite missing last week with suspension.

Now I know this is probaby the way it has always been with football, but for someone weened on to Fantasy action via the AFL and it's stricter rules, it sucks!  >:( Ahhhh, rant over...

I've played my wildcard. So liberating, and I love the fact I can keep making unlimited changes up to lockout tomorrow night - should be suffering a splendid case of paralysis by analysis by then  :D

Ended up choosing Sanchez, and went with Griffiths instead of Brockie. Time will tell - I know of many playing their WC this week, so alot of active managers in the game will have up to 70% of the squads the same. You PODs will be the deciding factor in breaking from the pack.

Luigi - Mullen must go, he is wasting space on your team. Even going the cheaper Antonis/Good/Foschini/Bosschrart is a better option while you decide on Simon's fate. I suspect he will come good as the Mariners find their feet over the next month.

MTTY - Yes to the wildcard. I'd be more tempted to upgrade Rozic to Susak. Good looks a regular starter at present, keep that cheap gold  ;) No problems with the other picks.

MTTY

Once again thanks BS. May go with Sung-Hwan as a point of difference.

Luigi197

For Mullen, I can go up to 187k, therefore I can choose:

Van de Brink (156k) Perth in form, get their cleansheets often enough, and this guy is clearly getting involved in the playmaking.
Jurman (144k) Already have Franjic, but Brisbane are always going to get Cleansheets, therefore wouldn't be a bad idea, and in terms of price, is pretty much a direct swap.
Antonis (107k) A cheaper option who does get involved in the playmaking, however I myself havent made up my mind about Sydney this season

Fabinho/Foschini or Sung-Hwan are also options, however Good and Bosschart? Am not sure if they will keep their spot?

What is the Best option?

Also, Captain choices?

BlueStorm

Luigi - I think any team that hopes to be in contention will have their full allowable complement of 4 Roar players - if you don't have 4 yet, then Jurman looks the best bet (though he will miss some games later in the season with Olyroos). Antonis will be in the same boat, but after getting my 1st good look at him last week, could ignore him no longer. Grabbed an assist, nearly had a goal, and Sydney will be better than quite a few teams this season.

Just a matter of team balance, and how much you want to keep in the bank for problems down the track. Your call my friend...

As for Captain, I was sorely tempted to go with Nicky Carle this week. He seems back to his good A-League form from a few seasons ago, and could have easily had a double last week. But, I chickened out, and went with the Devil you know - Step on down once more El Capitano Shane Smeltz! Hard to remove the C when he is scoring each week. I realise Covic is the highest scoring playing to date, and may well keep another clean sheet this week, but don't have the balls to put it on my Keeper  :P

Jake8

BS what option is best?
1)Foschini,Vidosic,Berisha and Williams
Or
2)Rose,Abbas,Rojas and Griffiths

BlueStorm

Gotta be Option A every day of the week Jake. 4 scoring guys versus a group patchy at best (I dumped Rose, Abbas & Williams this week, but did bring in Griffiths)

Luigi197

CrowsFan

My trade for the week was Kewell to Broich :)

BlueStorm

Solid CrowsFan, not that you needed the help  ;)
Will probably ensure Harry gets 3 assists this week, but I would have done it anyway...

Luigi, who's your Cappy? You had a slightly limited to field to choose from right?

CrowsFan

Haha yeah probably will, always seems to happen to me in fantasy games. Especially the EPL this season ::)

BlueStorm

And what's with FanFooty discrimination? I have noticed all stats about posts etc only relate to AFL topics.
I have spent more time/posts/topics commenting/helping/discussing A League for 2 years now.

I do read AFL posts, but know that I am far from a star in SC. I contribute, but won't post for the sake of posting. Therefore I devote more time to helping novice A League brethren. It irks me a little that I still only qualify as a Witches Hat Wrangler. It might be only a little thing, but I am often a petty man (particularly after a few beers on Friday night)  :P

Why does FF not treat all Posters and Topics equally? Ozzie or Hawk, would love a response. If you want to move this to another sction and comment there, more than happy. If FF is trying to appeal to all markets (I presume they are if they provide the forums for these topics), let's acknowledge non-AFL contributions.
